Czar vs. '10 Sir Francis Bacon vs. '09 Gotama

Thread Starter
I am yet another individual searching for ski gear advice in the usual mid-fat ski zone.

I'm 17, 5' 9", 134 lbs (Distance Runner). I ski Mt Hood in Oregon, I will ski anything, and am in an endless quest for deep pow.

Questions that maybe the kind members at EpicSki could answer:

The Czar is great in the deep stuff, but on a day when there isn't any, can it hold it's on flying down a groomed (I have a racing background from my wee-child days). And is the turning radius just too big?

The Bacon looks awesome (not just visually), but could it be too soft to really shred?

Is the '09 Gotama going to suffer in the deep for some race-like groomer performance (For a fat ski). And I hear the topsheets are crap and peel off after a few days.

Thank you to all who respond

Gotama is a great ski, hlds well on groomers, I've had no problems with top sheets after 25 days.
SFB pretty soft ski
Czar no idea

If you want pow performance forget the old ones and go for the rockered goats. I would demo each for feel to see what you like.

True enough.....(if you want a narrow powder ski)

OTH......If you want all around performance forget the new ones and scramble to find an old one before they are all snapped up.

I've owned two Goats in the last 3 years and have about 40 days on that ski. (FWIW, I ski on about 50 different skis every year). IMO they are among the very best of the wider skis for all around use. What they don't do is offer a race ski like feel on hard snow. They are OK there, even better than most of the similar width skis but "race ski like"????

Nahhhhhhh
