Skizee or Uphill Racer in Popular Mechanics pg 82

Anybody see the Uphill Racer also called Skizee on page 82 of Popular Mechanics September 2009 edition with the MythBuster Guys on the front page.  Check out pg 82.  This guy Jim Maidment from Canada.  Jim took a 6.5 HP motor and an off the shelf Bombardier snowmobile track puts some handles and a seat between the handles.  Kind of like a ski patrol toboggan but with a motor.  This contraption will push a skier 12MPH uphill and up to 25 MPH in flat powder.

You could get first tracks before the ski patrol is even out of bed with one of these.

Why spend 1000s of dollars on helli skiing when you can get one of these to take you into the back country.  Note to self, invention needed later how to transport this machine to the bottom of the mountain after it pushed you uphill into the backcountry.

Hi guys, My name is Adrian I just signed up after I saw the post about the skizee. I am involved with Jim the inventor on this project. I am a CNC machinist and am helping in the production of the new model. We have tested the 2009 prototype ( shown in pic and vid ) and are currently implementing a few changes.to the model that is going into production. The website skizee.ca is under construction and will up up and running soon so we will be able to take orders.

I look at this in the same light I look at people on bikes with 2 stroke weed eater motors attached to them. Interesting, but moronic.

I'm pretty sure I saw photos of people taking windsurfing sails out in the snow with skis back in the early 80s.  It didn't catch on back then.  I could probably see putting blades on the bottom of a windsurfing rig and using that on a frozen lake though

That's a sport that dates back to the 1920's, although I've only seen evidence of it from one small region. The oldest photos actually show kite-sails, but we started adapting those to longboards on skates by the early 70's.
