Never Summer Factory Tour

I just toured Never Summer's Factory down in Denver.   They run a lean tight ship down there and manufacture an amazing amount of premium snowboards. They were making skis while I was there too.  Nothing gets made unless it already has a place to ship to.  No spec work.  Everyone was very friendly and very informative.

For Snow Pros, it looks like NS is soon to be an official AASI and PSIA sponsor.

I'm almost ready for snow.

I got lucky and got to go through a local snowboard club. I do know other people who do get the special tour and get to take pictures. No pictures allowed yesterday on the production floor. There is an amazing amount of work that goes into the construction of those boards and skis. I wanted a few of those boards and skis. Man those were some fat skis. Almost like water skis.

They will do custom split boards with custom graphics throughout the year. They don't have time right now but once they fill most of their current season orders you're looking at around a month turn around time. Every spilt board is made to order. They don't just chop an existing model in half.

I'll send you a PM with the Sales contact. He's a real nice person who wear's many hats.

NS did make a replica split board of the one that was used by the late Ben Bradley (WP employee). The board was featured on "America's Most Wanted" back in the spring. I thanked them for that. A friend of mine used to date his best friend. Kinda personal.

Icelantic's or something else?  I think no spec is a better business model.   It seem too many companies think "if we build it, they will sell". Then they have to discount the product, thereby cheapening their brand. NS seems to have a very good reputation.  I hope they do well!

Yes, they manufacturing all the Icelantics.

The Neversummer factory is super kewl.  If you live in/around D-Town totally check them out for a tour.  They are actually pretty friendly guys, and if you shoot them an email or give them a call, generally speaking they will set up a tour for you.  I had the Blaho bros make a custom Neversummer Summit Splitboard for me two seasons ago.  Absolutely love that board.  First NS Summit Split board made actually.  I am thinking about having a Rockered Summit or Premeire F1-R made this year.  Pricey but worth every penny if you like to earn your turns.

Its definitely on the list to do!  And yes, Icelantic is working on a rocker for 10/11 season.

This made me chuckle, because the Never Summer quality and manufacturing is unmistakable and some people can spot it from a mile away.  Some Shop guys know this and others don't ....
Thanks for this TR!!

I have to admit, I didn't know about this either till I saw the base die-cuts and topsheets they were laying down.  I was like WTF????  That ain't Icelantic!!!!   Maybe that's why the "no pictures rule" ?   I looked on these guys website and all they say is "Handmade in Colorado".   Yeppers, it's true!

The Ptex sidewalls are a dead giveaway that a ski is a NeverSummer product.

Not all the Ptex was sky blue that I saw.  There was some green and a few other colors.

They did do a demo of that ptex bond to their wood sandwich core.  That bond is solid.  The wood broke and failed before that bond.  The bond never did fail.  Apparently the makeup of that bonding material and the process fall under 'trade secret'.

hey Thanks! good to know. I wonder if its different for certain compositions or brands?

My memory fails me a bit.

The green ptex was on the snowboard (I think but some coulda been on some skis).  The pale yellow and other colors were on these guys products.

D-Structure is a cool store, I was in there last summer.

My NS102 Prototypes also hace a white sidewall.

D-structure was great to do business with over the phone.  I got a real charge calling up Haight street in San Fransisco.  Hung out there in 1981 when I was hitch hiking around the country.

my guess is they are NS's and not "icelantic" per sie. I am sure if the dims and construction is the same, they will be great ski's. If not, Whiteroom's shipment of icelantics are due in next week.......  :)

Well they have the icelantic sticker on them .....
