Nah, they aren't coming back. The old skis had them at a time when boots were mostly softer (Remember your old leather Henkes with longthong bindings?). With stiffer plastic boots it became easier to keep the skis running straight when they were flat (easier to control the fishtailing without the groove). The groove was eliminated, making the skis easier to turn (carving puts them on edge, anyway). If I recall, the Fisher President downhills had double grooves, but that is another story.
