Wu-Tang Clan August Turns

On Sunday, August 2nd, my buddy Steve and I hit up a series of patches above Winnemucca Lake off of Carson Pass.

We dubbed these patches "The Wu-Tang Clan Patches" since the main run/line/patch was a giant distorted "W", which resembled the infamous rap group's logo.

It was a pretty ambitious jaunt, comprising a total of 9 runs and taking us roughly 9 hours to complete (we started hiking at 9:25 am and returned to the car around 7:30 pm).

While it sounds corny, attaching a theme to a summer patch session makes it insanely fun. For this theme we picked 9 lines surrounded the "W" patch and named each line after one of the 9 different Wu-Tang Clan members. We did our best to name each of the patches based on the various personalities of each member. (at this juncture, if you have no clue as to who the Wu are, check this out:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu-Tang_Clan)

As for the skiing? 'Twas awesome.

Here's Part 1 of a 9 part TR:

Part 2 and so on coming shortly!

(if the captions seem a little bugged, we are incorporating known Wu-Tang Clan song titles and phrases into the mix in the effort to keep our theme rolling along).

Enjoy,

(only 2 more installments to go!)...this was easily the most epic summer patch skiing i did this year (though this past weekend's 10 hour jaunt that only yielded 2 runs with a slam into the rocks and a giant charlie horse on my right leg could come close...)

Part 9 (the final installment of perhaps the best bit of patch skiing I've done to date...albeit, I've only been patch skiing for 2 summers now!)
