Was told Ultegra, but they don't have any markings...

What do they say on the back? Something like BR6500?

RC452GA

Bike shop says they are tektro or similar low end...

They look like Tektros but Tektro make good brakes, very functional, top value, and aren't ashamed of advertising their logo on the front.

Did these come on a bike or separately?

Seperately.

Someone on TGR was selling a NIB Tiagra derailleur for $10 and NIB "Ultegra" brakes for $45. Initially i was just thinking spare derailleur (I have 2 bikes in the apt. that use this) but then I figured upgrade my brakes to ultegra and put my old Tiagra's on my friends bike.

Interestingly, the Tiagra derailleur was in a 105 box, and these brakes were in an Ultegra box, so it seems somebody had already done an upgrade before these ended up in my hands.

Well.     One advantage ^those^ have over stock Tiagras is the possibility of using brake pad inserts, cheaper and easier to swap than changing out the pad+screw+holder and then toeing it back into the wheel.

Otherwise ...not much there to be an up or downgrade, really.

Totally off topic, but how often are you updating your sig Comprex? I see you avoided the trap, but you left a scroll behind.
