If you are thinking about buying your first 29 inch, this article is the best I have read on the 29 vs 26 inch wheel debate. It does seem that if you do a little reading between the lines MBM is not completely sold on the preceived benefits of the 29ers. Lots of good info, including shorter than 5' 9", proceed with caution (see end of article).

I would say; Beware the human mind, as it often mistakes torque as stability, noise as power, dead floatability as better than lively rebound, latest and greatest as better than last year's model, and just maybe 29 inch as better at.......................

The jury in my mind is still out on this decision, but I am definitely in no hurry to lay down serious cash for a large wheeler.

WHY do you folks continue to use terms that mean NOTHING

29" means NOTHING, it's 622mm ISO

26" means NOTHING, it's 559mm ISO

Let's get up to speed here !

The key thing about a 29" wheel that would sway me is I would have fewer times where I found myself having to leap-frog the handle bars.  I know leap-frogging the handle bars sounds like fun, and so far it's been nothing but.fun, but I still worry that I might do myself an injury one day.

IIRC, you did a superman off a bike with 27" road  wheels, which are, of course, 8mm bigger than the 29" wheels debated here.

well if they were better than why didnt a single one place top 10 at Mount Saint Anne?

also the highest placing american was on a DW link 4 inch travel bike.....but the fastest guy was on a 26 hardtail.
