Congrats! Beautiful.

Unsolicited advice: Always keep the attitude that this is forever. It changes everything for the better. It forces you to compromise and put two heads to solving every problem. It keeps your own ego in check. It delivers financial rewards over the long term. It will give your children a priceless sense of security. It will free each of you to fly knowing the other's holding a safety net. In the end you'll feel like you've built something together, not floundered alone. Keep God in the picture. Even the perfect love will be rocked by some of life's biggest challenges and that's when you have to lean on a Higher Power for the way ahead.

Quote from Mark Twain: to get the full value of a joy you must have somebody to divide it with.

So well said James. I remember my parish priest telling me exactly the same things.
That I failed, saddens me the most because of the faith the good man had in me.
May God bless him, even now that he's with Him.

Congratulations!

I hope you have a long, happy and healthy life together.  Don't ever let that 'ecstatic' feeling get away!

 WOW!
Congrats!

Did you exchange ski mittens instead of rings?

Congratulations JPH.  May you give each other even more happiness than you find in those wonderful trees!

Cool! Congratulations to both of you.

Now, to the two important points that all these other lunkheads in this thread have missed...
1. Does she wear a helmet????
2. Bar up or down?!?!!?

The real news:  HE CUT HIS HAIR!  HE MUST BE TAKING IT SERIOUSLY!!!

Congrats, dude!

Congrats!  I wish you both many years of happiness.  It's a helluva ride, I wouldn't trade 19 years(14 married, 5 dating before that) with DW for anything.

You don't have to agree on everything, but just remember this:  ..Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?  If mama ain't happy, NOBODY's happy!

Congrats.  Family life is way better than being single.

Congratulations JPH.  I can't say anything more then Jamesj did, beautiful sentiment.

We live in an age of 100 channels, and no one wants to stick with one thing.   No person and no relationship is perfect.  Love and happiness come from within ourselves.  Don't look at the trees, but the spaces between them!

Best of luck!

Congrats!

Terry and I celebrated our 25th this summer... and I was asked for the "secret". I responded with two words: "Yes dear!"

It's more about one-another-ing than anything else. As long as you let go of your own personal benefit and look to hers, you'll find joy in so much. Blessings to you both!

Congratulations!  I will be at 18 years next week and can tell you that Jamesj's advice is true.  Take it to heart and you will have many years of happiness.

Did your "Bros" stand up with you?

 Thanks everyone for your well-wishes!

I appreciate all the advice, even the "higher-power" stuff, although I've got to admit it's not really my cup of tea...

To address a couple of questions without taking the time to quote everyone,

Helmet: yes.
Bar: either way. doesn't really care.
Music: her father is a professor in the Music department at Tufts University and teaches, among other things, History of Blues and History of Jazz.  'nuff said.
The hair: was all cut off months ago for non-wedding related reasons, but did get progressively shorter and shorter down to the final "wedding haircut.."  I doubt it will be this short again anytime soon!

Anyways, we've just returned from two weeks in Spain which were absolutely fabulous, and whenever I get all my pictures sorted out there will be a TR from a mountain biking trip gone awry on the Mediterranean island of Menorca...

** EDIT **
As an afterthought I just thought I'd add the advice that my cousin gave me, which echos much of what has been said here already.  He told me that the secret to a happy marriage is six simple words:  YES DEAR, YOU'RE RIGHT, I'M SORRY.  My wife (wow, my wife!) and I have been living together for three years now, and I feel like I already have incorporated these words into my vocabulary fairly well, but I took his advice to heart as I do all of yours.  Cheers!
