Considering Elan Waveflex SL/SLX, need some opinions on length

First post here... have been watching the forums with great interest over the past year or two.

A bit about me... 6', 155-160lbs, in good physical shape.  I would consider myself an upper-intermediate/lower-advanced skier.   Currently I ski the Elan Magfire Magma (176cm), and am considering the addition of the Elan Waveflex SL or SLX.

The difficulty I am having is the decision of ski length -- the Elan website suggests 170cm (weight is not a factor in their "ski selector"), but since I don't weight a lot for my height I am of the opinion that 165cm wouldn't be out of the question.  My main consideration is not high-speed stability (my Magfires do well in that regard), but rather I am really looking for aggressive handling and low-radius carving performance.

So... opinions/thoughts on ski length?  I know what the general guidelines are... I'm really looking for personal experiences/observations regarding ski length and height/weight.

Thanks!

I'd go with 165. 170 is too long for a carver. Keep your longer skis for off-piste.

I'm 5'10" 150lbs so not *too* far off your build and ski my SL12s in 160, 165 felt fine too. 170 is too long for an SL ski, go for 165. The extra length really don't make them any more versitle.

I must admit I have really been leaning towards the 165's -- it's nice to hear similar opinions.

Thanks for the feedback!
