Can anyone recommend a suitable heat source for a hot box?

I'm in the early stages of putting together plan for a DIY hotbox and one area that I'm still uncertain about is the heat source. Clearly, this is the major part, so I'd rather get it right!

I've seen element room heaters and hot bulbs all suggested combined with reflective materials and fans. I'm probably looking for a 'baseboard' type heater, but it needs to be useable\available in the UK.

Can anyone suggest a sutable product?

In my setup I use an industrial grade digital thermostat (was $70) and an electric baseboard heater (about $40). I salvaged a DC CPU fan and chopped an adapter for it. The thermostat is pretty programable and can run on delays and on variating temps, depending on what you set it to. Works pretty well, and it keeps the temperatures pretty constant with the fan going. I'm not sure about the lightbulb setup, but I decided to steer away from it due to inconsistancies when heating with multiple pairs of skis, and temp inconsistancies.

I'd arrived at the same conclusion regarding bulbs. I'm investigating heating elements now, to be used inconjuction with multiple fans and a thermostat.  It will probably not progress much further than being a pipedream but its keeping me busy.

Most heating elements have very high possible out puts circa 600f, theres a leap of faith involved with e the thermostat.  The base board idea is gaining in merit.

I wouldn't worry about it. They do get hot, but as long as you have a head sheild and fans you should be all set. You always have testing too to make sure it doesnt murder your skis.
