Head iM82 versus Blizzard Magnum question...

Any of you guys skied both of these, and care to expound on which is more versatile?

I've been on the 8.7 Mag last season, and found it to be a great front-side performer, but not so great in deeper and softer snow as it tends to dive..

Is the iM 82 any better here?

Pros/cons?

I've skied them both. Personally I like the 8.7 to the 82, think about comparing a BMW to a Mercedes.

Doesn't that depend a little on WHICH Mercedes versus WHICH BMW?

I've skied both also and I like both.  The Blizzard seems a little higher energy with more feedback from the snow and the Head a little more damp.  Personally, I like a "quieter" ski and for me that would be the Head in this comparison.

To the OP: I'm not sure there's much difference, though, in the tendency of either one to "dive" in powder.  I think if you're looking for that as a primary determining factor, you would want to go wider and softer than either of these skis.

disclaimer:  I'm a rep for Head skis.

I guess I wasn't meaning powder, as I have a ski for that, but more the soft crud that happens in spring, for example, after temps warm up, and it's not convenient to return to the car for the fatties...

I have skied the iM78 (my son has a 177) a fair bit, and did like its damp stick-to-the-snow quality...

The 8.7 Mag. acted like a souped up iM78, and while it's livelier (BMW), it isn't as lively as a Fischer (Miata)....

I was wondering if the iM82 (Mercedes) skied somewhere between the two....

The waist width of the iM82 DOES split the difference...

Idle minds ??
