I've done some searching, but can't find a thread close enough to my question. Here goes.
I got into tele late this season, mostly skiing A-Basin when the sun is out. I want to get a cheap setup to see how far i can get with the sport before splurging.
I'm stuck between a few options.
- There's a guy on Craigslist offering a pair of BD Mira's with BD O2 bindings. His asking price is $150/OBO. It's the right size ski, and the inbound binding would be fine for now. He doesn't know how many basegrinds they've seen since he also bought them used.
- I own a pair of Dyanstar Legend 8000's (with an alpine mount) that have been idle since i bought new Mantra's last summer. I thought about selling those, but there's a 5 inch long core shot and a compressed (but not cracked) edge under foot on one of the skis. I doubt i'd get much money for them. I'm thinking about buying a pair of O1 or O2 bindings using a buddy's pro-deal and mounting on the Legends.
Both the Mira's and the Legends are 79mm underfoot, and are within a few cm length wise (178 vs 175). I guess i'm just not sure how a 7 year old Mira ski would still hold up today, or if the Legend's would be too stiff for a novice telemark skier, how much would/should it cost to mount the tele bindings on the Legends, etc...
Thanks for your advice,
