Days at the Bird are getting warmer and warmer (today I got rained on! ugh!)
Naturally, thoughts turn to next year... and the gear I'm going to use.
This year I skied on Head Monster 82s, a fine all-mountain ski, but decidedly too skinny for the Big Cottonwood dumps.
I have a pair of unmounted Black Diamond Verdicts, 190 cm, that I purchased a couple of years ago. These are the biggest skis I have ever owned, or even seen, for that matter. Let's just say that it's A LOT of ski.
My dilemma is this: should I mount regular bindings on these, or should I go with an AT setup?
Let me say first of all, that I've never skinned before. But I feel like I *should* be. I'm just too lazy, but I feel like, maybe, just maybe, if I get the alpine bindings and boots, it will force me to do it.
So that's the setup. The question is: how close to "regular" skiing is skiing on AT bindings? Am I going to regret having done this?
I have some time (until November), to decide this. Help me figure it out.
