Hey Kids! Who wants to see a Kicking Horse Revelstoke Fernie Slideshow? Alright!! What...nobody?

A year too late but better late...you know the saying.  What's almost as good as home movies??  A slideshow!  Yahooo.

So here it is.  From our spectacular trip in March 2008.  Just posted:

YIPPEE...YIPPEE, A SLIDESHOW IS HERE.

Mouse over any photo for a cheezy drop-down caption!

P.S. - I dedicate these photos to Allen a.k.a here as "oldefarms."  I never met Allen but chatted with him several times via p/m and once or twice on the phone.  He loved skiing in B.C. and kept asking to see my pictures.  He got to see a few and then I heard last week that he passed away rather suddenly.    I considered him a friend and he was certainly a very nice guy.  I was greatly saddened to hear about it and regretted I never got to share my photos with him while he was still on this planet anyhow.

So here's to Allen.  R.I.P. buddy, enjoy the photos!

Carvemeister,
I'm looking for suggestions on where to live this winter. Gonna be there for approx 6 months. Looking for steep terrain, and a community where i can get a job. Currently considering Revelstoke or Fernie, based on your time at each resort, what would you suggest?

I'm not really qualified to answer that question.  I only skied 1 day at Revelstoke on a day trip from Golden.  I know nothing about the town or where to find a job.

I would guess you'd have a better chance at Fernie.  It seemed like a bigger town to me.  Probably has the better steeps too.  They're a bit on the short side I guess but seemed to be spread around pretty well.  Both mountains are great though.

There are plenty of other folks around here and several locals who can certainly give you much better advice than I can.  Good luck though, sounds like you're going to have a great time somewhere.

BTW - I guess the title of my post was pretty prophetic too since you're the first and only guy to hit the reply button after all these months!

Surprised I didn't see this before.  I visited Fernie & KH on a road trip in 07' & then KH again & Revelstoke this past season.
Thanks for the pics,
JF

So what did you think?  Sounds like you may have preferred the combo of KH and Rev best, like we did.  I wish we'd had more than 1 day at Revelstoke but it was a long day trip from our lodging in Golden.

Our plan was to go back this year to KH and Rev but the airfares so far have been a bit ridiculous so we bailed and got air to Montrose for $265 and decided to try Telluride this year (along with a return to Crested Butte).  With the $$ saved on air we may do a day of cat skiing at Monarch.

Personally I preferred KH.  More alpine & easier access to steeps than Revy.  I did do trip reports on both trips, & had a great time at all of them.  They all had good access to sidecountry skiing as well.  I couldn't really say which would be more dependable for good snow, because I encountered a wide range of conditions at all 3 areas.

To Blake999, I couldn't tell you how the job market would compare as all 3 are small communities.  I would choose KH, both for the steeps & the fact that you could travel easily to the other 2 from there.

+1!  Made for fun lunchtime viewing.  KH seemed like the star of that trip.  Great shots in the vicinity of Fuez or is it Feuz Bowl
