Our mountain has as many of these "mighty mites" as any out there. They cover the mountain from greens to blacks. and they rip: pow, jumps, straight lines. They put a smile on my face whenever I see them. several of my frinds coach the little dudes and dudettes. I love these kids.
And they all, every single one, wear helmets. They dig it. Put stickers on them, paint them, personalize them in many ways. Look cool. Look 'bad' and fast. Look like their idols, Marco and Julia (Julia was a mighty mite.
Although they probably pressure their parents to get them a cool helmet nowdays, at one point the parents and coaches made that call for them, after all, can a 5-7 year old make this call? So, parents, get on board and use safety technology now available to keep these awesome rippers safe from harm.
The details of the helmet vs. no helmet are well known here, don't need to be re-iterated, and don't apply to how a child outfits herself. When that child is say 16 (40?) or so, she can make an intelligent evaluation of risk, not at 7.
