The last few weeks of skiing here in Utah have been great and today the skiing at Alta was fantastic. They reported 14 inches of new snow, but it seemed deeper than that. I spent almost all of my time skiing Supreme once it opened, and even got some first tracks and face shots skiing the trees by No 9 while waiting for the ski patrol to open the gates under the chair. I got first tracks down some of the gullies/chutes that cross under the chair, and by the time I rode up again, they were back to looking virginal. The only downside is that the snow was wetter/heavier than usual, but then again, it's April and there's only another week or so until Alta closes. I think this Sunday is the last day for Supreme to be open. Alta reports 630 inches for the season and more storms are on the way. It doesn't seem like that long ago in February/March when it was really warm and I was wondering if there was going to be enough snow to make it to April.
