I've sold my first short story!

Thread Starter

I just got the contract in an email today!  Whee!

It was a short story for an anthology, and will be published in the fall.   I actually get PAID for this. It isn't much, but I don't care.  No one has ever paid me to publish anything before.

Special thanks to LM for passing along the email with the information.   WHEE again!

Congrats Bonni !  That's awesome.  You'll have to tell us where we can read it once it gets published.

Check your email! I just sent you an invite to a writer's site. I'm the channel steward for winter sports. From time to time, you can earn a little bit of money for writing ski articles!

You go, girl!  My great aunt had some stories published in True Confessions. She was also the proprietor of the gas station/restaurant in Highland, Wyoming (population 9). She was a guest on "What's My Line". I know you are just starting out, but who knows, someday you might equal Aunt Betty's success. Good luck! (I think she made up those true confessions from whole cloth, that's what she claimed anyway.)

Great news Bonni !

Are there pictures of Cats in these stories?

We all knew you were talented. Good for you.

I don't know Lars, we'll have to wait and see!  She told me they were stories she wrote while on a steroid treatment plan about a 2 years ago---she said to me---remember when I painted the kitchen at 3am ???  and cleaned the entire house one night because the steriods were keeping me up??  well thats when I wrote this particular story!

Congrats!  And the title of your first novel will be...

either The World According to Bonni  or  Backsliding in Recovery

Out of curiosity, did anyone do some real editing to enhance, shorten, redirect, etc. or did they take it pretty much verbatim?

Finally somebody recognizes real talent!

I've always admired your ability to connect words ,seemingly unrelated, into original sentences . Twist um' up girl and explore the path you have just begun to travel . Let no topic restrain you.  It's the words not the choice of subject that really matters when you write together words of personal perception .Mark Twain did ok doing so. Hmmm. Yeah that's kinda cool . Way to go.

Congrats Bonni,  when and where can we read?

Yeah, congrats, and where can we read it!?

Congrats Bonni,

Take LM up on this.  I've earned some coin there writing ski and snowboard articles.  You can help us keep the other writers facts straight too!  Someone wrote that the snowboarding was terrific at Deer Valley.  I got that one yanked for inaccuracies.
