“We Are F-ing Cold, Hungry and Homeless” say the (former) ski bums of Aspen

Sitting neatly below an ad for Hyatt Residence Club Grand Aspen, and abutting another ad for Fox Crossing Aspen "A neighbourhood of 20 brand new luxury homes" ....

... is this story of hunger and desperation in Colorado:

After nibbling the last meat from a femur bone, Gaver broke out his harmonica and the crew sang along to Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer,” their eyes growing misty as they remembered the good ol’ days last winter when they would ski, sing ’80s power ballads, do dangerous amounts of drugs, and have sex with random strangers they found nightly at Eric’s Bar.

Can anyone tell ignorant me what 'LTD' means?

And what are the wider meanings and implications of this article?

Living the dream, first time I have ever come across it, this quote kinda gives it to you.

" Last winter I was totally ‘LTD.’ Now I’m just tryin’ to ‘L,’ y’know.”

The wider meaning is that you read the story a day too late.

Reguardless how many people are loosing their jobs and homes, there are still plenty of filthy rich who have lost a few million but still have plenty  to splurge on stuff like this.

For many, living the dream means having a place of warmth and a table with food on it.

And still, people just go about their business without compassion.

If only those evil rich had spent their days skiing and doing drugs like everyone else we could all be equally poor now.

OK, I've been back to the Aspen Daily News site and the story's vanished.

This one's in their archive for 1 April:

Yesterday in a story on Aspen Skiing Co. CEO Mike Kaplan, it was stated that “After all, Kaplan isn’t perfect.” He is. We regret the error.

Is there something amusing we should know about Mike Kaplan?

I've met many people in skiing who I'd describe as perfect, but never a CEO.

LTD means "Living the Dream"
