Recommended materials for Hip Replacement

Thread Starter

I'm used to asking gear questions like wood or foam core? Now that I'm a candidate for hip replacement, I need to determine what materials I want to use; ceramic, metal, poly.

My surgeon is positive about my continuing skiing, but wants me to make the decision on what materials are to be used.

Does anyone have an opinion on what I should go with?

A major player in the hip industry is Stryker.  The captain of my college ski team was president of the company until a year or so ago, and he still is active in ski racing.   I'll bet the Stryker people can recommend the best hip for a skier.
