I've always rented boots, and never get a good fit. I have flat feet, and there are two ways for me to wear boots - unbuckled, or buckeled which cuts the circulation off in my feet. I have to unbuckle the boots everytime I get to the end of a run to keep from losing my toes.
A long time ago I rented a pair of Nordica boots that had a turning adjustment instead of the usual buckle in the top of the boot just back from the toes. These boots fit like a glove and are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn.
I've just recently started looking to buy some boots, and cannot find any out there with this kind of adjustment. Does anyone know of any brand of boots with this type of adjustment?
