Holiday Valley - End of Season GTG; April 4th & 5th

So, Lars and I have been chatting back and forth and we have decided that we are going to try to get a group of skiers together for the end of the season at Holiday Valley. BushwackerinPA also mentioned that he'd be interested making the trip up to join us on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of April - possibly with a few friends joining him... so that would give us a pretty sizable group already. The more the merrier!

So lets try to get a group together for one day that weekend. I think the consensus is that Sunday the 5th is the better of the two days. Given the forecast I think we should schedule to get together on the nicest day that weekend. If the weather cooperates we may even do an outdoor lunch of BBQ (more details to come later). Plan on some great skiing with a great group of skiers. Lars has been raving about how great the bumps have been so hopefully they hold out for us!

Also, for anyone else interested I will probably be down there with Kathleen this coming weekend as well (28th and 29th). PM me or post here if you want to meet up!

Later,

Greg

Definitly should be an epic day of fun skiing and fun times. I can do a BBQ and we can all do a dish to pass thing. Grab some picnic tables and some cold brew or what ever you would like.

The moguls have been super as well as some good coverage on all the remaining slopes. Certainly worth coming for.

I feel like to much of a newb to join in on these festivities. Plus ,we leave for Florida on that Monday. I would certailnly like to meet some of you next season. My first season following this forum. Looking, listening and learning. My 11 year old son and I skied HV every Saturday since Jan 1 this year. A Long drive from Cleveland OH, for a day trip, but well worth it. Good times. Have fun.

You're more than welcome to join us. I'll also probably be skiing this weekend as well. I don't know if I'll be there both days or just Sunday yet... I have to get some boot work done so I figured I might as well ski while I'm there!

Kathleen and I will be there Sunday the 29th and Sunday the 5th. I think the 5th is the date we are thinking of doing the BBQ with Lars, Josh, and company.

Hate to do this but I'm out for this GTG. What I'm not sorry for though is the reason. I'll be flying out to Seattle on the 5th to visit my Brother in Law and ski Crystal, Alpental and Mt. Baker. I'll be there for 6 days and hope to meet up with anyone who would like to ski, show me around or just have a beer. I'll be staying in North Bend.

I'm sorry about the timing and always enjoy skiing with Heluva and Josh, as well as Kathleen. I hope I didn't screw up anybodies plans but am excited about this trip west.

Thanks

Looks like tomorrow the 29th is the last day for Bristol, so I may be up for making the drive over on Sunday the 5th-I'm not ready to quit yet!

so is this still on for sunday? where is everyone meeting?

Haven't heard anything else from greg, but I'm heading to Seattle to ski the NW.

I thought about coming to HV today, but didn't feel like making a 2 hour drive to ski 7 trails. We may make it over Sunday though.

Have fun in the PNW, Lars!

holimont is still just about completely covered. they had 33 trails open today. sunny and 65° too. and $27 lift ticket. beats just about every day i've skied hv this year. too bad it's going to rain tomorrow.

Ouch!  OK, that's me kicking myself in the butt for not checking their website........!!!!!!!!! I assumed their coverage would be spotty-guess I was wrong.Bristol is officially done per their website.I certainly would have driven over if I'd known they had that much terrain open and it is a beautiful day. Oh well-I got a few miles on the mountain bike, so I did get outside and do something........

As an aside, the Rochester D&C is reporting that the current owners of Swain are hanging it up. If they don't find a buyer it will be liquidated according to the story. Sad to see another small area go away.

do you know anyone who would sign everyone in to holimont on sunday?

For what it's worth, I skied Holimont the past two days and the snow cover is impressive for this time of year. Very few brown spots and we just ran top to bottom. HV looked very depressing.

Hope the snow holds for the GTG, but, I'm now home in Philly.

sorry greg probably not going to make it up.

I am going south this sunday. Tmberline is only 2 hour from Johnstown vs 4 hour to Holimont.

Plus the Canaan Valley was covered in clouds last weekend. Cant wait to actually see it.

have fun guys and FYI if you can swing it Snowbird end of april!

Let me know ASAP if you're going to come up Sunday. I think that as a current PSIA member you can ski at Holimont on weekends...

Possibly... but I doubt it would be "everyone"... more like one or two people.
