Costs of skis - When to buy?

Alright so 08-09 stuff is on its way out. Discounts everywhere and so on.

When 09-10 stuff comes out, will things basically be at MSRP? Aka those skis on sale for $330 now (once $500 skis)  will probably be $500 or more come this winter until the end of season ( for the 09-10 version)?

For instance you can find Armada skis for $300 or so right now, originally costing much more. If I wait until this fall to buy the same Armada skis but in 09-10, I will pay the premium won't I?

Yes.  If you want skis and what you are interested in is still available, buy now.

+1...although prices could go down a bit from here, your selection will go down also...check out some of the sponsors sales...

Buy NOW!  I am seeing skis at 60 and 70 percent off.  Its taking all of my discipline not buy another pair of skis that I really don't need b/c of how cheap everything is.  You might find it slightly cheaper sometime this summer but selection will be way down.  I'd rather pay 10% more to get exacly the ski and size that I want.

IMHO now is the time to buy skis - retailers are trying to clear out their inventory.  There are some outrageous deals on the market.  I bought my skis earlier in the season (thought I got a great deal), but there are some real steals out there.  Don't wait too long or you will be out of luck on sizes.  I am even thinking about getting a second pair of skis, but I am not pressing my luck with the old lady (might have the ski wrapped around my head!!)

Don't wait too long!!!

Now is a great time to buy if you know exactly what you want. As ski shop inventories dwindle they may drop the price on the last few pairs of skis for a model to move them. If it happens to be the model and size you are looking for you are in luck. Check online prices carefully as prices vary from site to site. Also you might try to find out if the ski you are interested will be either discontinued or changed next year.

Buy now unless you're a growing kid or buying for one. It's still a good idea but the risk is higher.

Unless you need to be seen with the Latest Graphics or newest offerings you should buy in the spring or summer. in the last 10 years or so I have never purchased a ski that was the current model year ski.  Skis do not change that much from one year to the next. Sorry ski shops you will never get rich with customers like me.

Then again nobody is going to be overly impressed with my gear or my skiing.
