SA or NZ would have better snow. Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood runs the Palmer chair in the summer/fall. Palmer chair is wide open, approx 30* slope. Icy mornings, slushy afternoons. The two big things on Hood in summer are the terrain parks and racing. Halfpipe lasted until maybe July? There are a couple "summer camps" that have private terrain parks on Palmer. You can buy a pass (extra cost) for the private parks (bigger features) or just use the public park (includes pipe). Aside from racing or parks, not much else in summer time.
Summer pipe is on Magic Mile (below Palmer):
By late autumn, pipe is gone and parks are winding down. Mostly racers.
