Need to buy a couple two way radios, and looking for some guidance. Used to bike with a group who used motorolas, but I've heard some pretty negative comments lately. Any particular models you guys use?

You want a decent GMRS/FRS radio. FRS is inadequate for communication across a large resort. The only reason it is included on most radios is so that they can sell them without requiring proof of a GMRS lincence upfront. So, you need to ask the following: am I going to actually shell out for a GMRS license or just use it "illegally." (not that the FCC will actually come after you- I think it's a it of a nod/wink thing.)
Anyway, there are so many models. Motorola used to actually make them themselves, now they are third party and are not to good. Just by going with well-reviewed ones on Amazon I have done pretty well.
This set by Midland looks decent: http://www.amazon.com/Midland-Outfitter-GXT950VP4-Channel-Waterproof/dp/B00176T9EO
