Came across this article when researching CO. Like to hear what folks who have skied these places think.

Palli at A-Basin is overrated as far as difficulty. The East wall is not.

Fly to SLC and get $52/day tickets at Alta (multi-day rate).  That has got to be a better value.

Vince F. is skiing Deer Valley today. I am e-mailing/texting him and gonna see what conditions are first hand. I know its not LCC or BCC but he will know in general whats happening.  If not too bad I may just go ahead and go back end of week since I know the drill there  Plus I have a voucher for PowMow.

I'd really like to do Whistler but thats a $1500+ trip easy any way you slice it and I need to save for that. SLC I can do pretty much whenever and for a lot less for a longer stay. Yeah I think thats probably the best bet for me.

Maybe since myself and MauiSteve will be there same time the snow gods will take pity us and dump a little pow. As long as the skiing is good even if its corn thats good enough for me.

Any of those spots you told me about at Alta decent even without new snow?

I've skied them all in all conditions, and they are always good, but can get pretty bumped out after 7-10 days with no new snow.

BTW, I'm still tired from my Alta trip last week, but I will probably keep a last-ditch April option open if they get snow.  Last year I hit closing week at Alta and we got about 2-3 feet of great powder.  Nice discount on rates at the GMD too.

FWIW, the last few runs of GFS weather model are showing change in pattern that previously wasn't there. It shows 3-23 to 3-26 as being pretty wet. We'll see if trend continues. given that March is usually snowiest month, hopefully changes before end of month.

Blinded by science!

I have the inside info from a very reliable source. I just asked my Magic Conch if there will be snow next week and it said "If you, Maui Steve and Skier219 hike to the top of Mt. Baldy and piss into the wind there will definitely be snow!" www.youtube.com/watch

As for our guesses on what the weather will be.  I'm goin out Thursday or Friday for da week If its gonna dump the day after I leave again I'm staying this time.  What will be will be.

I think the small areas can be a great value for families.  I recently had a Friend stay ski in/out at Powderhorn and they loved it.
