Looking for K2 Public Enemy in Toronto area or online

I know this belongs in the WTB area but I'm not necessarily looking for used (although I would take used).

I've been looking for these for a month or so and I never seem to find them locally.  If anyone has seen them in the Toronto area in the 170cm range, please let me know.  Or, if anyone sees them online, throw me a PSA.

If you want to buy new, they are now called K2 Extremes I believe.  You might have better luck looking for those.

the sporting life main store on yonge has a pair of 169 PEs left from last year and a pair of 169 Extremes from this season

same ski

The k2 extremes are at least $100 more, thats a pretty expensive paint job.  Although given how ugly the 08 enemy is it might be worth it.  I'm considering putting duct tape on the topsheets of mine.

I got my new Extreme's for a VERY good price....look around, there are good deals to be had

Thanks broad.  I will call Sporting Life tomorrow.  I hope they are on sale because SL's regular prices are too high.

Sporting Life wants $499 with binding for the PEs.  Considering they are 2 seasons old, that seems way too high.  I have to keep hunting.

Thatt's definately to high.  Something around $200 for the skis + another $100 or so for bindings would be reasonable.  I've seen new Extremes for $250-$300 so $499 for older PEs with bindings is too much.

$499.00 Canadian seems not unreasonable for binding and ski.  We are sitting at a 1.30 dollar again, making that about $383.00 usd.  Ofcoruse, adding the pst and gst to that is going to put them up to $563.00cdn (apx 450.00 usd).   Again though, Canadian prices are typically higher then US.

They are listed on Ebay, 2008's right now at 199 (for short 150ish), to 349.00, various listings, most without bindings..

There is one listing for a new pair with bindings, out of Canada, being bid on, no purchase price

I still the Sporting life price isn't bad.  Warrantied and no shipping hassles.  Ski with them this weekend, have the binding set up right for your boot in front of you and away you go.  Get them shipped from somewhere and y ou'll pay for mounting and shipped and probalby a tune you might be able to get tossed in by a ski shop.

What's holding me back on the Sporting Life pair is the fact that a store in Whitby Ontario called Scotties had the PEs for $398.00 with binding.  But they sold out of the 169s.  I guess I should step up and just get the ones for $499.00 but I am such a cheap bastard.

Check out Action Sports Outlet on Ebay. They carry a lot of new-old-stock type stuff, and I think that they are out of Mississauga. I don't know if they carry those particular models, but they have some pretty good deals.

Updated - they don't have many K2 skis, mostly Commanche and Silencers

The more popular sizes tend sell fastest and for money.  Right now when I do find them on sale on line, the longer sizes cost more then the shorter sizes.  Retailers know most of the market for them isn't a 5'2' female and twin tips s/b longer then standard as they ski shorter.  If you wait, and don't want them this year or are wiling to get something different, you may find them very inexpensive pre ski season next fall.  That is when I tend to see the best prices, both in shops and on line on the old gear.  Ofcourse, you may not find your size anywhere though, the pickings will be slim and hence, you may have to buy a different ski, or get used.

Don't be afraid to get the 174 PE if you can't find the 169.  They ski short because of the twintip.

Indeed... I was looking at some of their stuff earlier today... pretty good prices for Canadians...and free shipping!  With the dollar where it is, there are few deals to be had from the states.

I'm wondering what the summer sales will be like... A ski rep was telling me that the price of skis is expected to go up after this year (not sure whether that's true or not).. I'm not sure if it's the dollar or what, but the deals seemed better (at least locally) at this time last year.

I think in Canada, this  year's lower canadian dollar will likely put the cost of new skis up next year.  I don't recall purchasing good equipment at the prices offered last year in Canada, the strong dollar did bring the price of many things down (cars, computers, electronics).  That said, The cost of two year old skis tends to be least at the beginning of the ski season as makers want it out the door.  The two year old gear will also have been manufactured when the dollar was strong and money already made on it.

I know I live in South Carolina, but my kids live in Kitchener, ON and aren't totally independant.  I am constantly having to check the best way to make their school book purchases, computer parts, gifts,  needs, and yes, sports gear by comparing prices in both countries and whether it's best for me to order from a Canadian store and have it delivered to them or order in the US and take it up to them.  Since I'm called on every few weeks to loan money via internet email transfers etc, to them I have a pretty good handle on prices in both countries for a wide range of goods, over the past few years.

i can tell you with 100% certainty that many of next years ski and boot prices will be higher in canada...

i saw a list yesterday of msrp and retail for next years boots..

all i can say is i cant wait for the people who demanded lower pricing the second the CAN dollar dropped to get a load of the adjusted pricing next year...methinks there will be a LOT of people squeezing *just one more year* out of their current stuff..
