Bought my Dukes in advance summer before last and I have 30 or so days in them now. I've been hearing about problems with the "fifth screw" attachment and the adjustable/gliding AFD cracking or breaking entirely. Not having any of those troubles so far but I am getting some significant fore and aft play. It is pretty obviously the pressed in pins in the plastic housing that the the tour lever pivots on.
The binding is held down to the ski by the well attached plates that the toe and heels interlock with and travel on but the only thing that fixes the binding longitudinally is the attachment of the gold metal lever in the lousy pic to the whatever plastic housing. I can only imagine the looser this gets, the quicker it'll get looser. I think I read somewhere a while back somebody predicting this to be a weak point. I've contacted the retailer and Marker, and the retailer again and it sounds like it will be warranty repaired if I send them in. (hassle - but oh well, that's the breaks ) I'm wondering if any others are having this problem also and if anybody knows if there are going to be any changes in next years Dukes and Barons. Other than this I have been very happy and I was planning to run these one more year and change them out for the lighter Barons - this non carcass hucking skier don't really need no 16 DINz.
