Hey, vail snopro, I just supplied the information, as I said before, It's not sour grapes with me, I'm out of the loop, but I still know what's going on. And what was.

Unfortunately, a familiar pattern has re-emerged!
Where/when ever a SSD has held the interests of the customer and those of the employees too highly, rather than the almighty bottom line, he/she is summarily released. Now in this case, maybe Robin has seen the writing on the wall, and has removed himself from the situation.
Either way- the result is the same- another top pro, a leader in the industry, is no longer at the helm of a fast developing program. Rather than encouraging that development as an investment in the future, the short term financials and narrow minded thinking has cost their own area the momentum it was beginning to pick up. Now, they have to start all over again. And the new leader must overcome the employees frustration and mistrust of the area, fostered by the area management.
And will Eldora be lucky enough to find some one with the character and talent that Robin had, to carry on that development? If history repeats itself, as it does so often, Eldora will NOT be so lucky. Instead, it is likely to put in place a puppet, jumping any time a manager tugs a string.
In time, some future manager will realize that the growth expected of the School has stopped, they will get rid of the dead wood, and they will start all over again. Maybe then, they'll be lucky enough to find another strong hearted pro to drive the program forward.
|You must become one of those lobotomized invertebrates mumbling monosylabic platitudes while vacuously nodding and shrugging, to advance in this biz! This is no longer an arena for the visionary maverick (Blake, Seibert, McCoy, Dupree et al) but for barely functioning bureaucrats, spooked by shadows, devoid of originality and surviving by blending into the grey mass of resort anonymity.|

Area management tells us that ski instructors are independent contrators, yet when they try to assert the right any other independent contracor has, namely to do when, where, how and if, he is told he must keep himself available WITHOUT PAY. That doesn't apply to the ticket taker, though.

... what, if anything, is preventing ski instructors from hanging out their own shingle near ticket windows?
