I'm a virgin to AT skiing/ski mountaineering, but I'm committed to getting into it. I like skiing, but I like getting to strange and mind-blowing places (peaks, backcountry) even better.
Based on what I've gathered, I've decided on the current (gray and chartreuse) BD Havoc as being less of a leap from what I know, and a workable compromise between climbing and descent.
The questions is, what length should I get? Being that I weigh 157 lbs, Black Diamond 's chart says I'm okay with both the 165cm or the 175cm.
I would probably mount them with Marker Baron's or Fritschi FR's and use them with my alpine boots for the time being.
I'm a level 7-8 resort (Tahoe) skier, 5'8"/157 lbs, rock climber the rest of the time. I'm currently using a pair of 155cm slalom carvers (Salomon Equipe 10 SC, 124/66/104) and a pair of 174cm all-mountain frontside-ish twins (K2 PE, 118/85/109, mounted +4.75, slight shop error). I have problems with the length of the PE's in the trees.
Thanks beforehand for any help you guys can provide.
