Squaw Valley Freeride Comp - Venues: Silverado and Tram Face

Silverado has been announced as the venue for Day 1 of the Freeride World Tour event at Squaw Valley tomorrow.

Day 2 of the event will take place on the Tram Face sometime between Saturday and Thursday.  We're expecting 1-3 feet on Sunday, so this should be off the hook.

Check back for pictures, videos and results here.

You do know that it's not actually on the actual face, but the ridge to the side of it. Still expert only, but not extreme like the Tram chute.

i wouldn't be surprised if they're allowed to go wherever they want on the tram face...

they pretty much had all of silvy to play with today.

here's some low quality vids from day 1:

 Day 1 Video - Silverado  (4 megabytes)

they're gonna wait for the best possible conditions before they move onto the tram face...

looks like we could get 4+ feet by wednesday!

i'm pretty sure it's gonna be anything goes...

i've heard that media people are gonna be watching from the top of the tram building, which suggests the face is in play.

i was also sharing photos with some of the competitors who specifically requested shots of the main part of the face and tram chute.

these guys are ten times better than you can possibly imagine.  the competitors didn't even get to ski silverado before the competition....  those are the lines they figured out based on one ride up the tram!!

here's a video that's much better than mine:

there's another good one here:

 Unofficial Video

*moving this over to the "Racing and Big Mountain Competition" forum

From the site: "Day 2 of the Nissan Tram Face has been cancelled because the conditions are not optimum for the riders to put on a good show on the Tram Face. The riders will move on the the next stage of the Freeride World Tour: the Freeride de Tignes in France."  Too bad, I would have liked to have seen that.

Does anybody know if day 1 is going to be on T.V.?

What about the other competitions?
