Yellow Snow Rant

Snow is prettiest in its white state. Don't take a leak right there off a main boot pack where everyone that hikes the ridge has to see it. Walk off the trail, hide the stuff. end of rant. but, really

+1 to the rant

Atleast cover it with cover it with surrounding snow.

It dumps every night. Who cares?

I would rather have a track with pee in it then no track.

It doesn't dump every night. and if I'm close behind, wtf will that matter anyhow?

This idea, to be considerate of others experience in the mountains, is way wierd for some of you, but I think it's all part of being an evolved, experienced mountain traveler. sounds elitest, sorry, but just saying...

As a female who is perfectly able at a fairly advanced age to hold it and wait to get to the lodge, this is a pet peeve.  The other day I was on an intermediate groomer and RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE of the trail there was yellow snow.  Yeah, it's not crowded here, but it was still steaming, so I just missed getting an eyeful, oh goody!  And I've rounded a bend and there's been a snowboarder (i.e., teenage male) just standing with his back to the trail, but still on the trail, watering a snow ghost.

GROSS!

Frankly, I don't like being off piste and finding it either.  Go in the lodge like a civilized person.  Just like I don't want to step in dog poop, I don't want to accidentally fall in your piss, either.

That was a joke btw... It's called sarcasm.

Kick some snow over it.  Or wait for the government to come take care of it as part of some "stimulus" to beautify the snow.

France is terrible for this. At the top of every lift it is full of yellow snow - they just piss anywhere and in front of anybody.

So is this rant about not  being far enough off piste when finding some snow to piste on?

To the skier who adorned the summit of Bachelor yesterday:  It really isn't much of a hike or a special summit....hardly worth marking out your territory.  Take it to the trees.

Now, the four corners monument in Ariz-Colo NM Utah is another story.

Soooooo is it unlucky to pee on your skis? Just ask'n.

I think so, though I have a pair I don't worry about, hoping to blow out an edge or something so I can replace them.  I'm very carefull not to hit the bindings.

When I was in high school.let's just say 19-something, there was a pretty big fad where lots of kids were chewing tobacco while skiing

Hahahahah. Skoal. Use to spit it on skis in the lift line. I'd prolly throw up now if I stuck that in my mouth. Oh the memories.

A few weeks ago I was skiing Keystone with a couple of Bears and we'd done the hike to North Bowl.  We were traversing over and I noticed a guy who'd just freaking ruined the very nice track by post holing the whole thing which annoyed me enough. Then I got to where his tracks stopped (still out in the open so I haven't a clue why he bothered to hike over) where there was the tell tale yellow snow just off the track.  I was so freaking annoyed I nearly turned around to go tell him what I thought of it.  I dont know whether the yellow snow or the ruined track for worthless reasons annoyed me more.

the post holing the ski track, when it can be avoided, sucks. (clueless or rude?, I'm never certain)

My goal with this forum is for skiers to have a clue about social issues related to the mountain (because the word gets around)

I very politely suggested to a guy doing just that (post holing a fragile ski track into a chute) that he might, please, try to avoid booting the track to prevent ruining the fading snow. he looked at me like a child molestor, blank with some hate thrown in. I skied off with a shake of my head, and thought I should have tried a different tack: maybe you aren't hearing me, sir, keep your lame  gaper  as# off the f-ing ski track so those with the skills to ski it can do so, a-hole,

The yellow blotches are not a huge deal, I know that, but it is so easily prevented. Why not keep it all niiiice out there?

I heard $138m of the Bailout was to go towards such a Task Force.

This program is being heavily debated after an inside leak provided sources with evidence that the words; "Obama was here" were found written in snow at a popular ski resort.

In the center of this controversy is the former Vice President Dick Cheney. It is alleged that Mr. Cheney, after returning to his home town of Jackson Hole, was caught by an angry mob of 'anti snow pee-pee' women who observed Dick hanging-out; writing the letters "FU" in-front of the above listed inscription.
