A big push of forum improvements this afternoon. The biggest deal is the search engine. I notice also my right mouse clicks have a more expected action which is nice. I understand that iPhone posting is possible if you set your editing preference to full page editor in your profile. Moderators regained the ability to move individual posts. Here is the list from the development team. Thanks to Dan, Ted and Frank working hard behind the scenes.
- Vastly improved search: We have installed the new search back-end so results are MUCH faster and higher quality. Next steps with the new search engine are to add in advanced search features (search per forum, search per thread, etc.) and also to tweak the weighting of results. Still - this is a very large step in the right direction for search.
- Improved subscription management: Now you can sort your subscriptions based on the date you signed up (move the most recent to the top) or alphabetically. Also, you can now select entire pages of subscriptions for mass-deletion.
- Default to full-page editor in the forums: By going to the "My Profile" tab and clicking "Edit Account Settings", at the bottom you can opt to use the full-page editor in the forums by default. Now that those pages have the 10 most recent posts listed below, this is a great option for folks who like a little more real estate for creating posts, including images and video, etc.
- New navigation on Gear/Resort pages: Because the gear/resort pages are very long, some folks didn't know about the wikis at the bottom of pages, where to read reviews, etc. Now there are links up top that take you to the relevant part of the page so that you don't miss out on Bob's tour of Jackson hole - click "Wiki" at the top of this page: http://epicski.com/products/jackson-hole
