Nice report!!!

Bumpfreaq,

I recognize you from that Fat Tues @ MRG. We exited out of the trees at one point ("lowerGlade" I believe), which would have been the lower half of a "fall line" or "paradise" run,  waiting in the same area for ski partners before heading to the lift and we both had huge smiles and just nodded at each other, it was a huge smiling kinda day.

Hope to run into you again there.

Boomer

I have a load of pics and video from the prior three days and will post them in a separate TR after I get some work off my desk.  Here are a few pics from yesterday afternoon.

Yeah, it really was awesome!  This was the fourth day in a row for me when awesome snow met and awesome mountain and the third of four that intersected with awesome ski partners.  Big ups to you guys for coming out.  I know you would have had a rippin' time either way but I'm way happy to have been able to share it with y'all.

Post those pics and vids right here.  It's officially a TR now.

Yeah, I'll wash it soon enough but it's just a little sentimental for me.  I always bring home a little Mary Jane dirt.  This time it's Vermont dirt.  It's all good.

Dude!  That's so cool.  That was a very cool moment.  We were just two skiers who had just finished great tree lines in great snow at a great mountain and the smiles on our faces said everything that needed to be said.  If I get back to MRG on another day like that I'll consider myself one very lucky mofo, and I hope you're there on that day too.  Cheers!

To put a capper on this, man what a great trip!  Like Boom2it I hit this one just right.  Great snow, great friends, great mountains.  Hey Boom, next time maybe check the GTG forum here.... it's funny we skied the same spots for a couple of days and never made a run together.

Pierre, you can bring out the P word if you want... I made a bunch of heroic runs in hero snow but I bailed when the rains came.  Just couldn't ask my wife to hang out while I skied in the rain and then make a nine hour drive afterward so we headed west Friday morning.  With even more rain at Holiday Valley and Lars sick in bed, those plans were scrapped as well so after a thirteen hour drive we arrived home safe and sound.  Now the question is; where to next?

Okay, you may find this funny...  as far as mapping our route, I used google maps.  It works really nice as you can add in destinations as they become clear and refine the map on the fly by replacing city names with specific addresses when you decide where exactly you're going.  I like this method.  My wife on the other hand is a long time AAA Triptik user but since I didn't decide on our destination until fairly late, she didn't have time for that.

She was, however, impressed with google's 'add a destination' feature so when she mapped our route home and didn't like the Canadian option she just added a destination and plugged in Albany.  Problem solved, right?  Well let me say that my wife is a very very intelligent woman and has proved over hundreds of thousands of miles to be an excellent navigator.  I feel 100% confident getting behind the wheel and leaving the rest to her.  So as we're cruising up to I-90 she's directing me away from it.  Didn't seem right to me so I gave it one last shot.  "I-90, yes or no?"  "NO!"  So off to route 5 we went.  As we turned onto State Street in a noon time traffic jam she says, "Oh!  I know what happened!"  Yup, when she added Albany, google routed us on a little tour, then back to 90.  On the bright side, Albany does have some pretty impressive architecture to offer.

Here's another funny one....

On my second day ever at Mad River Glen I immediately got the chance to pretend I was an aficionado.  I'm standing in line for my first single seat ride of the day and a tele-skier slides up next to me and asks, "Hey, are you single?"  Of course it was his first day there =)

Thanks, Super 8, we sure did.

Some pics and videos from MRG on 2-24 and Jay on 2-26.

MRG

The snow had just about stopped as we were driving North towards MRG.  The wind was blowing very hard, drifting snow onto the road.

I wouldn't want to mess with this woman at the ticket counter if I had a snow board in my hand.

Lotta vid.  And she's quite a skier.

Excellent report, Liv4ski.

Can't figure out the gps, looks like it is in reverse.

Buzz,

On both maps, the bottom of the mountain is on the top right of the map.  In Google Earth, North is always the top of the map.

Perhaps a little back story is in order here.

Mardi Gras at MRG, I get to the ticket room right about 8:30 but it's too late, the line for the single was already well formed.  Before I know it I see  liv4ski as he comes up to introduce himself.  I need to get my ticket and he needs to go to the car for some gear so we agree to meet in the base box.  Ticket procured, I go to wait and watch the peeps... and the clock... and the line at the single.... the clock is ticking.  It was a cool family scene and I was real happy to sit on the bench and take it all in but it was after 9 now and... shoot, I'm getting in line.  After four lengths of the maze I'm finally moving parallel with the lift when, of course, up come l4s and Tim.  Tim was profusely apologetic...

So what was I to do?  First tracks were long gone, I was unfamiliar with the mountain and the peeps that I was meeting were well behind me in line.  Of course I ducked the rope and moved to the back of the line.  My rewards were skiing with friends from the first run, Being guided by Tim who knew the marked runs quite well...... and having my first lift ride ever at MRG documented.
