I've been in Mammoth for the last 3 days and, let me tell you, I've never been more convinced I need to bite the bullet on the second of a 2- (or maybe eventually 3) ski quiver, or simply move to a wider 1-ski quiver. I was having a blast on my Watea 84's until these last few days when I found myself sinking into waist to chest high powder....don't kid yourself, this is a great ski if it hasn't snowed recently out here in th the west, but in times like these, it's not gonna cut it.
So, as of now, I have in my possession some Watea 84's (176) and a pair of im78's (171), which are fairly redundant in the grand scheme of things. I bought both and intended to switch off between the two throughout this season and unload the "non" favorite of the two. I have not decided which to keep yet...kinda depends on what I get next.
If I go for a ski #2, powder-capable, but not "pure-powder ski"....well, here is where I need some help. Unfortunately, some of the options I am most interested in are not available for demo up in these parts....The '09 Atomic Snoop and Sugar Daddy, and the Line Prophet 90 and 100. The Watea 94 is a consideration as well. So can anyone who has experience with these skis give me some direct comparisons? I'm of course open to other suggestions too...
