I will be spending a week in Utah this March and am looking for opinions on whether to bring my old Volkl Explosives or the newer Gotamas (white ones). I got them both for deals that I couldn't turn down at swaps in the midwest.
Explosives - I have skiied these in Utah several times. I love the way they carve through cut up powder and handle the steeps (Alta Chutes on Baldy) and are still fun on the groomed. I have not had the chance to ski them in really deep powder though.
Goats - Haven't skiied them in the mountains yet, But it sounds like they have a big following.
Forgot to add - I would rather not ski groomers (but do if there is no fresh to be found). I look for fresh or left over powder, seek out little untracked pockets and don't mind a traverse or short hike/climb to get steep/fresh snow.
Opinions --- Which should I bring and why would they be better than the ones I leave at home. Thanks
