Can AT boots be made Dynafit compatable?

I've seen at least one non-Dynafit AT boot that is Dynafit compatable so it seems the heel and toe lugs are the same other than the sockets for the toe binding. If thats the case it would also seem that it would be possible to retrofit sockets in the front of the boot. Does any one know if this is do-able/been done?

Most AT boot manufacturers are making Dynafit compatible boots these days.  Now, G3 and Ski Trab are making Dynafit compatible bindings (the Ski Trab is early phase).  I'm sure somebody has modified a boot but I don't think it's the safest move.  You'll be drilling into the toes and carving out the heels then adding the inserts and sounds a bit sketchy.

However, if you do it an it works let us know

I knew I'd seen it somewhere.  But even there the poster noted that it didn't hold up... so, why do it

I had a hunch this might have been done. Thought it might be just adding the sockets to the toe is all tho. I was forgetting about wildsnow. I had a conversation the other day with someone who was thinking about getting some dynafit bindered skis but does'nt want to give up her much loved boots.  She asked me if I thought a boot fitter could do this and I had never  seen, heard, or thought of such thing but it made me curious. I was considering Dynafit compatability when I was searching for my new AT boots but all in all liked the Garmont Endorphine best which is not.

Interesting anyways, thanks for the replys!

If you haven't pulled the trigger on the boots yet, try the Radiums. If you like stiff Garmont boots (which it sounds like you do) you may like the Radium. They ran a little big on me. I used a 28.5 Adrenaline but a 28 Radium with a heel lift (both were performance not comfort fits).

EDIT: Oh ya the Radium's work with dynafits.  The only bummer about the Radium is that it doesn't have a DIN replacement sole for use in most alpine binders.  But that's why God made Dukes, right?
