Ugh, that sucks! I severed one tendon and half of another that way with a broken glass...luckily it was in the palm section of the tendon and not the finger section...had the injury happened in the finger instead I wouldn't have full movement like I do today. Not a good thing for a musician!
Here's hoping that she'll have full mobility. Well, at least she got gold before the injury!
Severed tendons suck, though–three months of rehab before I was allowed to put even minor weights on it. The scar's pretty bad-ass, though! (GROSS ALERT) The cut itself was only 1/2" wide (and probably just as deep), but because the tendon snaps back like a rubber band when it's severed, the surgeon had to splice open two inces on either side to grab it and sew it back together. Yum! Then as an added bonus, to keep the tendon stabilized during the first 4 weeks, a rubber band was put through my nail and then attached to my wrist. I'm posting a pic, so look away if you're easily grossed out ;)
