After having enjoyed Copper so much last Sunday and being able to ski the day for only $46, I decided to go back on Thursday with fellow Bear SkiMerlin. The gas station company Philips 66 is offering 2 for 1 coupons to Copper for fillups of at least 10 gallons. I made a Mexican guy real happy when I put 3/4 of a gallon in his truck after my vehicle took only 9.3 gallons. I tried to explain to him that I needed to buy 10 gallons to get a free lift ticket and that I needed him to stop filling his tank so I could add gas to his tank. He did not understand my english very well. He finally understood when I said "free gas for you."
SkiMerlin and I met in the Getting Together forum. He is a fun guy to ski and drink beers with. He likes Bass Ale and Guinness, two of my favorites. SkiMerlin also likes to shoot pics - maybe as much as I do. His little Canon Elph camera can take rapid fire shots to freeze the action in sequence, as shown in the pics below.
It was a warm bluebird day - a perfect day for pics and video. We did a little skiing as well. We spent much of the morning hunting for soft snow. The snow softened a little in the afternoon but it was not until near the end of the day that we found the best snow - about three inches of wind blown powder - in the Union Bowl. The lifts on the back side of the mountain close at 3:00 PM so we had to race to catch the last lift up to ski the powder a second time.
Nice bump run under the Timberline Express.

On Sunday, I had one of the best meals I ever had at a base lodge. I had a curry chicken with fresh vegetables and a coconut milk sauce from a place called the Lemon Grass Cafe. I ordered it again on Thursday but this time I added some hot chillies to the dish. Hot stuff.
We took the Cat up a little ways to ski in some untracked firm powder. On powder days, most people hike the rest of the way to the top for the steep and deep but today the conditions were not worth the hike.

SkiMerlin and I skied together again on Friday at Breckenridge. I am posting another TR with pics from that day as this report is getting a little long.
