new bug with latest push.

Thread Starter

When I reply to a thread or in one case deleted a post out of a thread,

The refresh of the screen is missing most of the formatting. I get the text and what look like "alt text" for the buttons but none of the borders or boundries seem to be in affect.

testing again..

so it appears that a new thread does not cause the symptom but a reply dialog and submit Post seems to cause the symptom. A refresh of my browser does not seem to bring the formatting back and the text, even though it looks like a link (javascript) , they don't seem to work either.

I'll try using ctrl f5 next time to see if that refreshes the screen properly.

More testing and Ctrl F5 works to repaint the screen properly. Some action "buttons" or links work but the javascript buttons (like edit post, report post, etc do not..

Same symptom.

Only thing unusual is I'm on an ATT Cellular connection (pcmcia) which tends to be a bit slow as compared to my normal home network

no OEM firewalls, Just the windows built in..

trying again to see what happens

The screenshot above would suggest that your browser isn't correctly acquiring and using the site's CSS file, but it obvioulsy is working okay at times.  The exact same file is used on every page of the site and should be cached by your browser.  I'll give it a try from my home connection when I get home and let you know if I have any problems.  Can you try in IE7?

I cleared my browsing history and cache again.. This time it worked fine. I then hit the refresh button and the formatting went away again.. Ctrl+f5 and back it came. This attempt from IE7

IE7 seems to work but I get this error in the browser.

And I didn't notice it with the first reply but when I went to try to paste this screen shot in using IE7, Here's the reply dialog box.

It seems to be missing a whole mess of buttons and functions..

Your browser is obviously having trouble pulling files from the server, both CSS and JS.  I'm now on my home connection, on a Mac instead of a PC, and still don't have any problems.  I even checked the server logs and there aren't any errors with the corresponding files.  The only other thing I can think of is that your AT&T wireless connection is having issues with the DNS update and you're requesting some of the files from the old IP address.  Is there any other connection you can try it on?

I'm near soda springs so unless I want to go dialup, NOT!

It's possible it's the local routers are the problem.

I've used this connection at home and no problems there.

The system up here is not 3g.

I've seen a display like that on occasion, but I don't remember what I was doing at the time.  I'll have to keep an eye out.

wonder if this has anything to do with this symptom.

This is a new error being reported by Firebug

(something Frank asked some of us to install to try to help troubleshoot slow response problems.

There are no errors on the site.  This is a very well known Flash v9+ bug:

bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-561

It's generated when some ads are injected into the page and is purely cosmetic, causing no problems of any kind.

Most of my computers are fine. This one now has Epic lock up when I click on the box of smily characters.

sometimes it clears later and I can submit the completed post with smily.

Windows XP on a Acer netpook that can't be upgraded.  Firefox 12 (yes it's 3 years old LOL but versions after 19 have more

ads & tracking.)
