Multi-Quote?

Thread Starter

Do we have Multi-Quote on this platform? If we do, I couldn't find it.

If we don't, can we get it on the list? Thanks!

Edit for clarification: I'm talking about the multi-quote icon in the lower right of each post that recent versions of VBB have. It took me a long time to get used to it but now I find it extremely useful when making a reply that addresses points in several other posts.

Would love to see it work the exact same way. As you read posts that you want to multi-quote, you click the multi-quote button on a post, which gives a visual indication (color change to the button). Then when you're ready to reply, you click the regular "Reply" button (not the "Quote" button), and all of the posts you flagged for multi-quote are individually quoted into the editor, in the order you selected them (not in post order unless that's how you selected them.)

That lets you edit the sections you want to quote, and put in your replies, all in one neat post.

+1!

I couldn't find a tutorial or wiki on multi-quoting. Maybe there's another way to do it in Huddler that we're not yet aware of?

Thanks in advance for adding this to your growing list of things to tweak, admins! Your hard work is not going unappreciated

p.s. disregarding the problems iPhone users are having with the reply pop-up, I'm already finding it extremely useful to be able to scroll through the last page WHILE posting. Neat!

It is not available now, and is on the list. Thanks!

Multi Quoting.

It's called being pro.
And for 10 simple payments of 5.99 I'll show you how to be pro!!

Learn copy and paste short cuts!!

Ctrl + X is cut.
Ctrl + V is paste.

Ctrl + A Is Select All

If you want it to look right, start with the last quote and go up the page.
Click quote, in the box, press Ctrl + A, and select all. Then Ctrl + X and cut it out.
If you want, you can reply to the post then Select all and Cut, This is what I usually do.
Then you can click cancle or just scroll till you see the quote button on the thread you want to quote and click it, it will load it up in the box.
If you are going from the bottom up, your going to want to paste (ctrl+V) the stuff you cut under the quote box, if your going from the top down, you'll have to move the type line thingymabob to before it says quote, and hit enter and paste it up there.

I've given you all the tools to make you look pro, just pratice some, and you'll be pro like me!!
If your still clueless, PM me!

Well, we shouldn't have to go through all of that.

Can we have a "snarky" smiley added please for posts like this?

Of course one can do that, and FYI I'd guess that 97% of EpicSki members do know how to do copy/paste.

However that's a PITA compared to the nifty "Multi-Quote" feature of VBB. Which we had for several years and have now lost. Thankfully the admins don't share your "be pro" snark about the feature request.

Makes me wonder who Talyn is...

Ah, finally the magic 97% expert number.  But you meant to say, I can cut and past better than 97% of skiers on the hill right?

Now we know that EpicSki lives.   (Talyn scratchs head and asks, what does 97% have to do with anything?)

I thought that on the hill, "cutting" means when a snowboarder hits you and says "dude, you were in my line", while "pasting" is what you're then tempted to do to said snowboarder.

For Talyn and other newcomers, 97 is "the number". Kind of like 815 or 42 except different.

Holy sense of humor!

Guys need to stop trollin for a fight.

I was trying to help.

I obviously know that it shoudln't have to be that way. duh!

But, you guys could just be so anti to anything that's any bit of change at all.

Jeez. Thanks for wasting my time trying to help you guys and crack a joke.
I guess I'll go to snide remarks and a dickheadish attitude whenever I offer any help.

Who wants to be a pro, when you can be an expert? I can carve and paste better than 97% of everyone else. At EpicSki, we don't cut--we carve. And, if we can create the right shortcut, anyone can be an expert....

(I can't believe we have a Kool-Aid-drinking smiley. Glad he's spitting it out!)

Best regards,

Bob

PS--Please keep up the good work, Talyn. In this thread, you've unwittingly bumped into some history--a dark period that probably only a few around here remember. 97% is a magic, tragic number!

Can we quote you on that?
