New Post/Reply Post popup box

This new-post pop up box doesnt seem to work 100% of the time.  Sometimes it only brings up the "Subject" box.  It also doesnt work at all from an iPhone.  This is a problem for those of us trying to use the forum as a way to set up get togethers at a ski location when access to a full computer may be unavailable.

Also for some reason I cant "Copy/Paste" text out of the forum.  Nor do the arrow keys or page up/down keys work unless I click off in the empty space to the side of the posts.

Now I find this isnt working well at all in IE6.  The Submit button wasnt working.  I am now on a computer using IE7 and I had to email this post to myself.

Most of my other concerns seem to be hashed out already so I wont list them...

Are you saying that you are having the issues on the system with IE6 but not the one with IE7? It is known that there are issues with IE6 due to its inability to handle a number of standard HTML constructs due to its age (more than 7 years old!).

The real concern I have is with iPhone compatibility. The pop-up posting box breaks that.

The IE6/7 thing was just an annoyance but I understand the problems with IE6.  I still have some problems with the submit button on IE7 though.  I think this is on Win 2k (Work computer, I dont know too much about it)

The iPhone support issue is on the development list and understood.

Can you expand a bit what your issue with the submit button is? I have seen a few times where I don't hit it "just right" or something else happens and I need to hit it again, and once when it double-posted... but I haven't had it fail, yet. What's happening?

Two issues and I cant reproduce them reliably.

1) Sometimes I get the "Subject" box, but the main  text box never appears.

2) Clicking "Submit" doesnt have any effect.  It does nothing.

I am back on the machine I tried this on the first time and its not doing it now.  Until I get a better handle on whats happening, its probably chalk it up to some odd configuration I have here.

Ok. Thanks. Keep in mind that these are JavaScript-driven, so if you have some JavaScript blocks turned on, that could contribute.

I experienced that one time. Submit Post appeared to do nothing (did not close composition window). Chrome browser on XP.

I'm seeing this a bit, too. Like the JavaScript isn't being cached, and the result is that it sometimes doesn't all load.... I'll chat with Ted and Dan about this.

Copy and paste work fine. I've never had a problem with the pop up box except while moving it, if you move to fast, the cursor gets stuck on it till you click back on the bar. Silly bug.

I feel people really need to stop complaining about their Iphone's not working.

Yes. people really need to upgrade to a newer browser or IE7. They cannot expect IE6 to handle everything. Just like an old muscle car. They still work, they are still fast, but they cannot do everything a new car can do.

Win2k will make no diference on the submit button on IE7.

The submit button thing is wierd. Sometimes you just have to click it 2 times. the first click wasn't really a click, it ended up selecting it. I have this happen to me, but I have not had it not work yet.
I have not had just the subject box pop up as well. Sounds like people having this issue with the submit box and the subject box need to delete files and clear their caches out. Most users do not do this. IE7 and Firefox are pretty automatic about it, which actually irritates me on days, but not on others. I used chrome just long enough to decide its nice, but I like firefox better. Chrome is fast, but the plug in features of firefox are just to eleet for me to switch to chrome.  Pluss, if your runnin though googles servers, that pretty much means they are logging where you go. They log/save everything. Which is good and bad. Bad if your looking at kiddy porn.

Yes, you guys noticed I have multi quotes going on.
just cut and paste and you get it.
I cannot figure out the alignment deal yet though, its funny.

I am also having the submit button problem on and off.  It's almost like the window freezes, BUT, I occasionally have the same problem in Facebook.  I am running Firefox on XP.  Maybe that will provide a clue?  If I wait FOREVER, it may clear up, but if I open the link in a new tab, the problem seems to go away....of course, I have to re-start whatever I was submitting.

Just copy and paste.

I'm using the same setup. I have not updated to the latest firefox yet. No high speed. usually is a big download. So I'll report my findings with new firefox as well. i think newest was 3.0.0.2

I suspect issues with JavaScript download... I've been seeing this once in a while, too...

No issues here on newest firefox.

Javascript can sometimes be buggy.

but

I've noticed, that if you try to reply or quote before the page is finished loading, for me at least, it wont work. if you wait for the page to load all the way, there might be no issues.
