. In reading some of the postings this subject, the pay issue comes up all to much. I am full time on the mountain as an instructor. This was my choice and I still enjoy it. I am interested as to the mind set of a part timers. Why do you worry about what the pay is as you have already have a solid income under your belt? What is your motivation, a three hundred dollar pass, wearing a uniform, free training, or just to be connected to the sport in a more intense way? It seems to me you are getting all of the above benifits already what more do you want? Do you expect the resort to then pay you one hundred dollars a day plus to have you there whenever you feel the urge to work. The work load for our resort to be on staff is twenty one days. Many part timers don’t even work the required number of days but get the credit for just showing up. It is this that creates the resorts low pay scale, an endless supply of low paid volunteers who jump at the chance to teach skiing. If the part time staff would shrink the full timers would be getting a higher rate of pay. I also think resorts do not use part time staff correctly!
