Well I just paid $399 for a pair of Elan Mag 8's. Granted I bought them with under 50 hours of skiing under my wings and was kind of a beginner.

But I would totally have bought some 78 Ti's if I had the chance to buy them at this price.

Just wanted to give Scott a bump.  Ordered two pair of skis and a set of bindings Monday night.  Everything arrived today, ahead of schedule, and nicely packed.  Once again, thanks for the great prices, fast shipping, and top notch service.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!  Craig, I am glad your skis showed up OK.

iM88's are gone, and never to return (Head is changing the skis for 2010).  But, still lots of good stuff available!

Dawg - Will you be offering any Nordicas at reduced prices or are you sold out of them?  Just curious.  These are great prices.

To clear up a bit of confusion, my prices are 45-60% off of "street retail", which means 45-60% off of the price that someone would pay if they actually walked into a shop in November and bought skis.  Most shops running "end of season" promos usually base the discount percentage off of "MSRP" (typically around $150-200 above the "street retail" price), not the actual retail price.

Wondering what you might have in stock for a beginner/intermediate. I am 5.9, 210 pounds skiing 99.9% groomed trails in Wisconsin. Not looking for anything fancy or too pricey as this will be my first pair. Just need something to keep me away from the rental counter. Thanks.

Do you have the Dynastar Legend 8000 Fluid in a 184?

And what do you guys charge for shipping, is it a flat rate or based on location?  I'm in SoCal.

SWEET deal!  I'm stoked!  Thanks!

I have 2 pair that would be great for you: the Elan Magfire 78 (not the ti version) and the Fischer Progressor 7+.  Probably go 165 on the 7+ and 168 on the Magfire 78. Both are confidence-inspiring and a big step up over the cheap rental skis. The Progressor has a railflex plate, while the Magfire has the Fusion system.  Both will take you up to solid/high intermediate status, but won't beat you up at this point.  And, the prices are right, around $350 w/bindings for a very high quality ski.

Give us a call: we will be back in Thursday.  541-593-2453

sent you a pm but forgot to say I am 5'8",180(in ski gear)..as before looking for a n.e. spring condition ski-wet,deep,slushy..something to make life easier..where I ski, stratton,vt. I can ski all trails though stay out of woods and big moguls..recommendations?.

 Hi,

If no moguls and trees, are you skiing open glades, or groomers and areas that are wide open?  If so, you could do well with the Head iM82 in 172cm. Very versatile, any turn shape, very stable at speed.  The Elan 888 is a super versatile ski, as is the 777, and made more for off-piste skiing and a large sweet spot over a racy, edgy, aggressive feel of a carver.  Other skis in that vein are the Watea 84 from Fischer and the Dynastar Mythic Rider.  I think any of these would be solid for you: all are good carvers, but they don't have the "aggressive" feel of, say a Volkl AC50 or a Nordica Jet Fuel.  They are all more geared toward off-piste.

You may want to give the Elan 777 alot of consideration.  It was designed with Eastern-type off-piste skiing in mind (where there isn't a ton of new snow, but where people are not looking for a carvy, stiff ski).  Huge sweet spot, GS stability, a great all-around tool.  Plus, the price is tough to beat for a very high-quality ride.

so many skis to read about ,,,,

I think I need some help.  I'm looking to buy something that I can use mostly on the east coast - and even south east for that matter as I still live in Atlanta and drive up to NC / WV. I'm 6-3, 210lbs, intermediate+ skier I guess.  I enjoy a few runs down a black diamond now and again but will do most skiing on the blues, making smaller turns rather than large arcing.  I don't do trees/off piste and only an occassional high speed balls out run.  I think I'm looking for something that I can maneuver, not too soft and can hold on NC ski hill ice, if that makes sense. I'd like a ski that's above my ability so as I progress I won't have to replace it in a year.  So, with that said.  Whatchya got?

I really interested in getting another pair of skis.  Ive currently got a pair of Atomic SX12's and they are either 160 or 162's.  Im looking to get a front side ripper that will also help shave some time in the nastar coarse.  Currently looking to go up in size to 170-175.  Im a good skier thats 5'7 and 165 lbs.  Do you have anything left you could recommend?  If not would you recommend any particular ski I should look into?  I appreciate your help!

Well, having never skied in North Carolina (been there to climb though, lovely place!) I would assume that you don't get much snow and probably have pretty small hills to ski.  With that said, you probably want more of a mid-radius ski that does well on hard and soft snow.  Something along those lines that is forgiving would be perhaps the Elan Magfire 78 or 78ti 176cm, Head iM78 177cm, Elan 777 176cm, Dynastar Contact 10 172cm, or maybe 178cm. Each of these skis has their plus and minus points. Easy and forgiving: Magfire 78.  More power and edgehold, little more aggressive, slightly more demanding: Contact 10, 78ti, iM78.  More of a big sweet spot, GS, off-piste versatile ski: 777. Also the Watea 84 from Fischer is along with the 777, but you don't probably need that much width for where you ski.  And, any of these skis go up to near-expert or expert status, with the exception of non-ti Elan Magfire 78 (it is more of an intermediate/advanced ski).  Hard to say which is best, but they are all good skis. Considering that you like a smaller-radius ski, probably cross the Watea 84 and 777 off the list, and look hard at the Contact 10. It is a turny, all-mountain ski that won't beat you up but is very smooth, damp, and with performance to spare if you want it. Or, you can dial it down and cruise.  This used to be called the Contact 11 or Contact Ltd, if you are searching for old reviews. The old Contact 10 is not the same ski.

 Hi,

Good Nastar skis?  I have the Progressor 9+ from Fischer, which is perfect for a strong frontside/NASTAR ski. It is basically the WC RC with a bigger footprint, but same layup and plate.  A very strong ski, super fun, no real speed limit.  I have only 175cm in stock new, but have a pair of last year's (same ski, different graphic) in 170cm for $450 w/binding, if 175cm won't work. I am 5 foot 9, and like to freeski the 170cm, but the 175cm is a more stable ski at speed and feels more like a GS power ski than an all-around carver.  The other ski that would be applicable is the 170cm Head Supershape Magnum. That is a fun ski as well, strong and powerful, although not quite as stiff as the Progressor.  The other ski I would recommend, the Elan GSX Waveflex Fusion 176cm, is special order only at this point (I do have the 182cm, which feels like a SuperG for someone your size.  Super fun at big speed, but perhaps not the best NASTAR choice).  Either of the 2 I mentioned will be faster and more stable than the 162cm you are already on.

 Yes....Will you use them?

Btw, Twin needs some advice on tuning them.  Dawg, have they been shipped or can she get them set up for a fee?

Picked up a pair of the Elan 888s today.  Thanks Scott!

Dawg,

Which bindings come with the Progressor 9+?

Thanks

They were probably shipped today, but I wasn't in, so I really can't say. We set them up at 1 degree base, and it comes factory 3 degree side bevel, and also wax them. They should be ready to ski.
