Blue Bears heading to Elk for the Weekend

Guys (and Gals)

Noofus and I will be up at Elk again this weekend (2/7-2/8) - on a mission to be able to learn bumps. (I did one at a time on Main Street at Blue yesterday so hardly even a beginner). Sunday is womens' ski day, so I will be out skiing with the girls, but we would love to get to see some people Saturday. Im sure that the boys wouldnt mind company on Sunday either.

More details as we get closer - but Noofus and I like to be up there early on 2/7.

Hope to meet some folks!

Elk has been in discussion betwixt myself and the lurker.  Perhaps we will join ya'll.

I might be able to for Sunday. I will know more when I get back.

Awesome!

Emily and I plan to drop in on the ski school on Saturday some time.  We know one of the instructors and he said he would venture into the bumps with us...

We will be there with the crew we were with last time...

Nice, I was there last Saturday.  Lift lines weren't bad, but we got there at 9:30 and waited 30 minutes to get a lift ticket.  The bumps were pretty severe.

One thing I cant stand is waiting for a ticket (especially now that I have a season pass at Blue).

I'm willing to hit the road at 6am just to avoid standing in line...  :D

Good thing you are not a Jack Frost season pass holder - we still have to wait in line unless we fork over an extra $100 for a 'super' season pass.

Myself, Mrs Cbire880, and the Lurker are in for Sunday.  Mrs Cbire880 will be partaking in the Woman's Day festivities to help prepare for our trip out west.  Myself and the Lurker will be hurtling ourselves down through the bumps in preparation to not die on Mary Jane.  We'll be there by 0800.  I'm sporting the Monster 82's still.

Doesn't look good for me. I have a ton of stuff I have to clean up from going away and Sunday is the only time I can see being able to get it done. Would love to get up there with everyone too. If I can get what I need to get done, Saturday night, I will try. IF I do make it up, I will have to leave by 2 to get home form a commitment that evening.

Saturday was BE-UT-IFUL! Best skiing I've done all year. Warm, sunny and soft, mega carvable snow. I think that i finally got the confidence thing down (well except for the bumps). Gaby and I took a lesson and he did awesome! I'm still in the overthinking mode, so thats holding me back. Sunday was Womens day, so I didnt get to ski with the boys, however, based on the stories over beer later they had an awesome day in and out of the bumps. Snow was fast in the am and got kinda sugary by the end of the day. I did bumps with the Womens class and was the worst one - everyone else said they were no good but zipped right on down with no problem! Guess I need to work on it some more. I missed the last free run that everyone took ... OH well! We gotta do it again!!

BTW - next time we are officially headed up is March 7-8th. The Womens Day clinic is on Saturday so we can all ski together on Sunday.

Oh and Phil - I love, love, love my Elans

I have a few pix I grabbed while riding the quad in the sun on saturday.  I'll post those when I get a chance.

All in all it was an awesome weekend.

I have videos of myself, noofus, and pfblack that I can post.  The skis were awesome Phil.  Unfortunately, my video doesn't do service to the edge angles I was able to pull off later in the day.  Melanie, Paul, and myself should be up there for the 7-8 as well.  Looks like this week is going to be a wash in PA for skiing though....

I would love to see the videos on something other than a 2.5" screen.  I'm sure my technique will get nicely picked apart here though :D

I think I might attempt opening-bell this weekend at Blue and see if the snow stayed decent.  The crowds will get completely insane so I doubt I will be there much later than 11:30

I dont intend on missing the March 7/8 @ Elk  -- we will be there....

Report back from Bill:  Rotator cuff tear... he is done for the season :(

Ugh.  That's unpleasant.  I don't think mine is torn from early this season since I never lost any ROM, but its still sore from time to time.  Could be worse, I could be beating myself up playing rugby like some people.

We still on for TJ's on Friday night?  That could make Sat first chair "challenging."  Check your PMs for the videos.  I'm used to getting nitpicked to death at work.  Its good for you once you get over taking it personally.  We should be there for Elk as well provided no injuries out west.

Ya we're on for Friday...  Just PM me details...

Count us in for Friday...if I am feeling better.

Well, we might as well open it to everyone.  Do you like beer that calls you unworthy?  Then join us Friday 2/13 at TJ's Everyday in Paoli, PA.  I'll probably be there sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 unless there is a specific plan for earlier.  I have to get my daughter to bed before we can sneak out on the "babysitter."  I can work something earlier if there is a demand.

Thats a bit late for us - I was thinking 8:00 or so...

That's what I thought might come up.  Let me see about getting my daughter to bed earlier.  We should be able to make it happen.  Phil,  what time are you thinking?

8-8:30 is much better for me too.

I would have no issues with having a beer-phest at my place either, We could combine it with a movie night.

Hey! I was thinking it would be fun to have people over too! Although, we are running a bit low on the homebrew and the cooling system is still frozen outside so no new brewing until the thaw. However, we still do have a most excellent stash in the fridge downstairs (anyone else fall victim to the buy three cases of Ommegang get one free at the brewery?? )

I am most intersted in trying out the new beer place though - us beer snobs need to have a few places to choose from ...

Actually, I was thinking that if people could swing it - in two weeks we could have another get together and go out for the night after skiing.

If I had known about that deal when I visited it, I'd probably have cases upon cases of Three Philosophers. The videos are all up on Vimeo, http://vimeo.com/user1275747/videos .

The good thing about damaging your left shoulder is that ya can still tip with the right. Friday night's open and I'll plan on joining.

Need to make plans to return to skiing next week at a nice flat mountain, maybe, Jack Frost.

Mike
