Who thinks Epicski v2.0 is an IMPROVEMENT over v1.0? - Page 6

This new format is very cumbersome.  I can't figure out how to include a portion of a previous message in a reply, or see it as I am typing the reply.  All I see is a "quote icon".

Can't find the list of bootfitting Masters no matter WHAT I type in the search parameters.  Master Boot Fitter?  Master Bootfitter? Master Boot-fitters? Bootfitters? Boot Fitters?  ??????

We should not have to guess variations.  Just for curiosity, please tell me what WILL work.

This used to be a very easy to find.

Use the quote button at the bottom right footer of a post to quote only that post.  It shows as the button with only one set of quotation marks in it.

Use the multi-quote button (with two sets of quotation marks) to sequentially select & quote multiple posts.  (What I did here.)  Then select the [single] quote button when you're done selecting posts to quote and they'll all appear in the editor ...I believe in the order you selected them.

List of Epicski Boot Fitters has been made into a Wiki.

I entered Bootfitters in the search and found the list as one of the three Wiki's that was return in the results list:  Boot Fitters On Epicski

It's nice that it's a wiki, but the point is that the search function, well, sucks.  You can't search by member name and there's no more option to view all threads started by a specific user so I'm forced to use Google to search the domain.  This is also unsatisfactory since all of the recent discussion topics show up in Google's results.

Yes, I get that point, much as been discussed about the search short comings.  Hopefully it will get better soon!  It is currently a priority and most recently discussed here:   What is the status of the Advanced Search feature?

Since the switch, I've found myself posting much less than before - there just doesn't seem to be as much content worthy of comment. This is a situation that can feed on itself;  as more people contribute less, there's less that's worthy of comment and the participation spirals down...

I wish the site the best, but it seems that the admins have messed with something that was working and brought it to a halt, or at least slowed it down.

PS - I like the black text on white background - probably 80% of the websites I read regularly use black text on white background, and I'm surprised at how many people say it's hard on the eyes.  Don't they read the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Slate, Time, Newsweek, or any of the hundreds of other major sites that also use black text on white background?  Are they using a different internet than I am?

Features I liked in "old" version:

1. Log in went right to home page, not features or my old posts

2. Showed list of most recent posts regardless of forum

3. Could find list of instructors and contacts

4. Could preview "posts" before submitting -- eliminated my screw ups

5. Trying to find "members on line" list

6. Liked number of users on line listing.

7. Trying to find link to Supporter sign up since mine has expired

Maybe a chance that these are contained in new version and I haven't found out how to use yet. Still appreciate everyone's efforts to make a better product

I'm not normally one to complain so vociferously, but this time I have to say flat out, you guys dropped the ball. The new Epicski sucks. It's so obviously more about marketing and money than about skiing and community at this point...you've turned what was a funky, tight-knit place like Mad River Glen into just another Intrawest owned, Bally's-sponsored (oh, and of course AARP...because if any organization knows skiing, it's AARP!) sh#thole.

Hey Buddy (iskitoofast4u)! You make some valid points (and many others have too), but WATCH IT..... no dissing the AARP - I just joined and I am looking forward to many many discounts, ie, Denny's, airport parking...... ;-) Seriously, I am hoping that I get something out of turning a half-century old.... Hi Rapid,

Go to the WIKI section. Find the Browse All Wikis button under the title line. Under "E" are some tutorials that will help you get acclimated to the new platform.

We realize it is going to take a bit of time to get used to the new system. We hope you will soon appreciate that this new engine is far more powerful than the former generic software that ran the site and will come to enjoy the features it offers.

iskitoofast4u, Walt, and others,

Thank you for letting us know how you feel about the old vs the new software. That's all that has changed. The community is still here, meeting up, talking about their ski trips, sharing tips and trading lies. Please don't let a little new technology keep you from enjoying old friends.

Everyone,

We are working to get the new features on line as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience and support as we complete the transformation from Old School to New School website.  Actually, some of us do qualify for AARP, and we're demented enough to think we're still young enough to learn some new clicks.

As for me, there's new snow this morning, and I'm going Epic Skiing! Hope you all can go out and make some turns today too.

Thank you--every single one of you--for being an integral part of my excellent experience of this fantastic sport! EpicSki is undoubtedly flawed, but I've never made a perfect turn either--I know, because I just read Bob Barnes's WIKI...

I'd say I'm here about 20% of the time I used to. It's so much work navigating to things that I might want to see (if they happen to work of course), and completely useless "features" that nobody wants or needs, that whatever pleasure used to be from dealing with this forum is completely lost.

The developers of the new site should be ashamed of themselves. If they bought a product with so many flaws with the constant promise that "it'll be fixed shortly" heard continuously, they'd take the thing back. Epic ought to figure out what in the world lead them to do this in prime season, and even then, with a product so woefully underdeveloped.

That's what should happen with this - they should take it back, FIX if, and (maybe) try it again.

It looks like an excuse for all kinds of advertising, things following you around, things blinking and flashing in the corner - whoever sold this bill-of-goods to Epic is certainly one great salesman. Redundancies, things that don't work (BASIC THINGS - like SEARCHES for gosh sakes), stuff all over the place - what a mess. All I know is if I ever see something from Huddler in the futrure, I'll avoid it like the plague - the Yugo of software developers.

What next - something really cheesy like loserzone.com with ads in the middle of the posts?

We have that feature, it just moved.  You can find a link on any user's profile page under their profile picture to All Posts by <username>

In addition, an interface similar to vBulletin's advanced search will be made available in the coming week.  The front-end guys are prettifying it today.

Nope.  Not what I was asking for.  There should be a link (like in vB) that shows all threads or topics STARTED by a specific user.  Not all posts by a user.  This is especially useful for browsing reviews started by very active users like dawgcatching and Sierra Jim.

perfect to me     I'm headed out Friday to work on mine

Cheers,

I personally like V2 better, but for people who like V1, would it be good to have both versions at your hand?
