Edit Subscriptions Page

Thread Starter

Before I complain , I want to state that I really like the new site overall.  The look and feel is crisp and clean.  I like the 'Home' page with subscription summaries, PMs, etc.  I like the Avatars (but I do miss the signatures).  Love the gear lists.

I'm sure I'll have a few more suggestions, but I'll try and keep 'em targeted.  First up, subscriptions!

The 'Edit Subscriptions' page is not really well suited to large subscription lists.  I've got 104 active subscriptions (and I'm sure I'm on the small side).  A couple of thoughts ...

  • Categories (Users, Threads, Gear) should be collapsible/expandable.
  • Threads are sorted by name, but I'm more concerned with either the start date - or more importantly the last post date.  Allow the user the option to sort on different columns.
  • Add column for 'Last Post/Activity Date'.
  • Add column for Post Count
  • Pagination for long lists (more than 25?)

Thanks for caring :)

OR just duplicate the way it was done in the old site..vB style.

I'd also like the ability to put the subscribed threads in Categories AND to view the posts in "most recent first" order, rather than starting in 2005 or whatever.

Hmm, now finding it is jumping to the first unread automatically for subscribed threads.

But, this still seems to apply to the search function.  1) it only gives you threads, not posts and I don't want to hunt through all the threads, I just want the posts.  There was a way to set this as a default in the old board.  2) If there's a way to find the threads that only have unread posts in them when you do a search and then take you to the next unread, I haven't found it..but maybe that means I've read all the posts, I can't tell.  Right now all the threads look like they have the same font for the title, but I seem to have read all of them.

Maybe this too will change as things get going?

I would like to see an "unsubscribe from this thread" link on the email notification - as before.  I found it impossible to find the thread I wanted to unsubscribe.   So OES's sorting suggestion would work, sort by last post as the default makes the most sense.

In the old site we could have notification settings per subscription which was a great web 2.0 feature.  Things I really cared about I had on instant, while other things I had on weekly digest.  Very handy.

I also don't like having to post my reply into this box.  I can't scroll back to see previous posts as I could before, and that always helped to make a cogent reply.

Subscriptions are getting annoying, there HAS to be a way to unsubscribe easily without searching.  Next to the "subscribe to this thread" there should be an "unsubscribe to this thread' or more likely when you're already subscribed it should change to "unsubscribe."

I'm getting hammered by emails from ancient threads I'm no longer interested in, and can't take the time to find each one in my long subscribed to list, and if I turn off all subscriptions, then how can I subscribe to a new thread?

I feel you pain..I have 1954 subscribed threads....I would have to delete them one by one.

All you have to do is go to the now uncategorized Edit subscriptions page and start clicking on the X's.  I have close to 800.  I'd like to be able to put them in categories.

I have turned off notification, it's the only option for me.  So one of the major web 2.0 functions of epic is gone.  I can not be kept informed of what people are saying in threads I'm interested in.

At the very least put a "select all" choice on the subscriptions page, so we can get rid of all the old ones and start new ones.

Also I will now not get notification of PM's as the notifications option is so limited.  So the PM function now requires visits to the site.

I wanted to say I really like the new edit Subscriptions page as well.
I went and deleted some old ones today.
I just wish they would be recognized as marked as read, cause they don't display right on the home tab, which is sad.
I'm sure that will be fixed soon.
It freaked me out before I realized it was a bug.
59 new posts! OMG!
haha. Oh, I was the last post, WTH!

1954, that was a good year.

heh.

Delete all for the win for you Phil.
That's a good 2 hours of clicking x's.

The old check box system is neat, but the new system really looks cool. if the old system didn't auto subscribe you, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, now you can choose what you want to subscribe to easily.

Basic internet capablilities are missing.

Sort by.

The new edit subscriptions page is useless.
