Mark Forums Read

Thread Starter

I found the "New Poss" button to show me the new posts.  But how do I mark a single forum, or all forums, read so that the next time the exiting content that I have chosen not to read does not show up as "new" again?

Same question here -- how do we mark all forums read in a single shot?

Sorry, function doesn't exist just yet. One improvement on the New Posts screen from the old site is that things don't just disappear after you see them, instead they go from BOLD with the green icon, to unbold with a white icon.

Just checked with the team and getting that feature in should be pretty straightforward - we actually already built it, we just didn't put the button in the user interface yet.

If you click this link, it'll do it: http://epicski.com/forum.php?id=92&action=markforumread

We'll get it in the UI next week - these guys have worked insanely hard this week, so we'll be monitoring this weekend, but not likely adding anything new until next week.

Thanks.  I'm looking forward to the button, because the "new posts" button which I and many use isn't terribly useful without it.  FYI, for now, I can't use on the URL provided - it asks for some authorization (username/password), and I don't know what exactly to provide.

We'll definitely throw that in the UI. The link is fixed - I just posted it wrong!! Sorry about that.

Here it is again FWIW: http://epicski.com/forum.php?id=92&action=markforumread

In the meantime, I've added the link to my Firefox Bookmark Toolbar.

Could we get a "Mark This Forum Read" button inside each forum, too? Clicking it should mark it read and pop you up to the next higher forum level (ex: if you're in a root forum, you'd go to the forum listing).

Sorry - I don't fully grasp this one.

Here is what currently functions: Clicking the "Mark forums read" at the top of the page marks ALL forums read (identical to the old site), clicking the green icon next to each forum at the root forum causes that entire forum/sub-forums to be marked read, then at the individual forum level, green icon means unread, white icon means read.

You'd like to be able to click the individual thread to mark them read? Seems like the difference is that with threads you can see all the information on the page (which threads are green and white, and the freshest are on top) whereas the forum level you would have to click in to see what's read and what's not so it makes sense that if you want to just mark it all read you can from there.

Anyway, not sure if I'm fully understanding. Thanks for any clarification.

What I mean is just a button at the top of the forum (list of threads) that is "Mark this forum read" and, when clicked, marks all threads in that forum (and sub-forums) as read, but doesn't impact the "read" state of threads in any other forums.

I tend to read Epic forum-by-forum, so when I've reviewed everything in a forum, I'd like to mark it read, perhaps before I either move up a level or before I head off to some other part of the web for a while...

Does that help?
