Old Farts in Fart Bags - Page 3

I skied with my Dad when he was 77-really didn't care what he wore.  My mom would love to have joined us but asthma and heart disease prevent her.  I hope I can still ski at 80.  Here in Wisconsin I see folks in camo, blaze orange and Carhartt.  Being healthy enough to enjoy winter is great.

Every time i see a thread about fashion, I wish some incredibly good skier, someone beyond reproach, would hit the slopes in jeans, hunting socks peaking out above the boots, and a Starter jacket, just to, you know, rub people's faces in it.

Hmmm.......that would be cool.

They are so much warmer and you never get snow up your back!

I have a one piece wool baselayer made by Stoic that I absolutely love. Keeps me warm on the coldest of cold days and is never "too much" on warmer days.

That said, I'm glad it's a baselayer.

I think you need a certain level of cool to pull off a one piece snowsuit after age 6, and to be quite frank, I'm not sure I possess that level of cool.

I think I saw that suit in Wrath of Khan...

OMG LOL some of those comments were so funny!  But nobody said that one piece suits were (and still are) the best for skiing deep powder, as the snow has nowhere to get in!   And similarly, all that hot air has nowhere to get out.    Heat in, snow out.   It's a natural insulation system!

Believe it or not I have seen VERY few one pieces until this weekend when I skied at Lutsen in extremem northern MN.

I saw them all over the place, and they were all older people who obviously have skied in these suits for years and years.  None of them were particularly good skiers however.

In fact, I saw more redneck skiing this weekend than I have seen in a long long time.  It was pretty freaking awesome...

Look how good you can look in a fartbag!

Yea, I'm a bit bored.

Again

I wear a one piece all the time....I feel that it makes me a much better skier than everyone else on the mountain.

Jac,

Loved the videos !

But my one question is ,  are these one piece suits all the same size ?

I have a hard time telling your size .

I am guessing your about 165 LBS. and it looks like about 5 foot seven or eight ?

I am guessing by the way your describing the different manufactures and the way the suits are built .

Your top three suits are :

1. Bogner

2. Marker

3. Killy or Decente (tie)

Am I right ?

I`d like to know the size of the suit and weather or not you feel the cut is baggy or cut slim.

Keep up the good work .

.

About 128 lbs. 5'8".  Many of my suits are women's.   As long as a suit is not too tight, it's alright.  I don't mind a bit baggy as long as the waist has a belt.  Really, I like them all, just some are good for warm days and a few for cold days.  Take care now.    I have about 5 more now.  Not enough to do another "fashion show".

Here is a quick version.

FWIW saw a 20 something local in a fart bag the other day. I couldn't tell if he was being ironic.

I'm starting with bibs, but I cannot rule out an appropriately steezy fart bag.

All the people I see wearing onesies or fart bags, look like they are from the late 80s or early 90s. These are the same people that use rear entry boots and skis that are 15 years old. Call them cheap or frugal, some people will use something until it won't function anymore. There's a guy at my local hill that wears a ski that has to be between 25 and 30 years old, which I don't have a problem with but his is dirty and faded. I'm not rich by any measure but I won't wear old stained clothes in public.

Agree, like any trend, it will come back around in another incarnation.

Truth.  The fluorescent wear has come back.  I see lots of it now.  Mostly solids.

Tipsy Elves is making a killing in the one piece market. Over saturating the market, they are.

I don't always were a one piece, but when I do, it makes me look good!

Ha ha.  I used to rock a similar suit with Hexcel Sundance II skis.  Also wore a tube on my head with all my hair coming out the top.  Yes, I used to have a lot of hair.  We called it a volcano head!  You looking classic.  Gaper day or what?

Latest acquisitions.  Bogner & Obermeyer

Jac ,

Your a sick individual ........but , we the owners of carefully selected fart sacks appreciate the work you do !

In fact I would like to propose that we have a World Wide fart sack day or days.

Let it bring out all the sacks in captivity from Minnesota to Maine., from Stanton to Squaw, from Portillo to Alyeska.

Let it be the first day of the month of every skiable day worldwide.

And we owe these days to YOU Jac !

Because you have kept the Onesie ALIVE !

So , here`s to you Jac..... The king......The man.......The visionary

Thanks Jac,

-Polski-
