Squaw Valley Demos?

Thread Starter
After booking a week-long ski trip in Squaw Valley, we're deciding between paying the $50/flight fee to bring our own skis, or take this opportunity to demo some skis.

Anyone know a great local place that offers ski demos in Squaw? Particularly, if they carry Volkl?

Thanks!

Try Tahoe Dave's at the base of the entrance road off 89.

Where are you staying?

If you are in Tahoe City or Truckee there would be more options.

At Squaw, Granite Chief carries Volkls.

Tahoe Dave's is usually a good bet. Not sure what stock they have at the location at the base of the Squaw Access Rd., but worth checking out. Also, learn the University of Michigan fight song (Hail to the Victors). If you sing it for them, you get a discount (seriously).

If you're in the village and don't have a car to drive the mile to Dave's, Granite Chief is a good bet.

Also, Black Tie will deliver your stuff for you. http://www.blacktieskis.com/location...ki-rentals.php

The Inn at Squaw Creek used to have a sweet shop with high end demos...

Mt. Mike's also rents volkls if you're looking for a slightly smaller shop.

he's just before the entrance to the squaw parking lot (right after the post office)... there's usually a kid in some kinda bear suit dancing around in the parking lot on weekends.

to add to Sinecure's post, the Dave's by the entrance to Squaw is pretty limited (last time i was in there with friends). the main store in Downtown Truckee has a much better selection of demos.

not sure what the Granite Chief shop in Squaw Village is like, but the Truckee store used to have a solid demo fleet of high-end planks.

and again, the shop at Squaw Creek used to have a great selection of high-end planks.

There is also a shop located to the left of the Tram in the old Squaw village (right at the base of the hill between the Tram and the ticket windows). The shop is 2-stories with the skis on the 2nd floor. They have a pretty good selection and I believe they specialize in Volkl.

I believe that Start Haus in Truckee has Volkl demos. Obviously not in Squaw itself, but you'll pass through on the way from RNO. PM SierraJim.

You can demo skis at the top of the Funitel near the exit at the far end of Gold Coast on your right. Great group of folks there. Its $49 a day with lots of current year high end skis (including Volkls). There is usually a stack of $5 off coupons at lobby of the Tram building.

Strongly recommend Granite Chief.
