SIA-the Out of Body Experience in the Desert

After skate skiing in a blizzard yesterday and flying over mostly white Colorado and eastern Utah, it's bizarre to go to the desert for a snowsports show. Fortunately, after 37 years they are finally moving it to ski country. Next year will be in Denver. Only had a quick glimpse of things while stealing beers from the Salomon and Poc parties after spending the afternoon with RacerRick at the Maplus booth and his new Tools4Boards vise. I'll cruise the room tomorrow. If anyone has specific things they want a peek at, let me know, I'll try and take some shots.

Here's the Snowpress Daily link.

And interactive guide.

Cool....I have a request, HEAD race skis and boots. Also any full-face helmets with integrated visor/goggle...similar to your Maplus but in a full face. Oh and new Reusch race gloves.

Check out the Snowpress Daily as well, there's a lot of stuff in there and some reviews.

The Wintersteiger and Montana machines serious drool material.

Maybe see how BCA is doing with the Tracker2? Haven't heard much on that front. Enjoy yourself.

My friend left for Vegas a few days ago with his sponsored 13 yo kid. Apparently Tashi has been invited to be one of the Demo kids on an indoor half pipe or park/jump thing. I think it will be great for him to be immerssed in the scene and surrounded by other talented riders. Did you see the demo thing? It sounds really cool. I know I'll see vidoe later, but if you got some pics and posted them it would be really cool.

I'd like to hear more about these new base and side edge tuning gizmo's that everyone's raving about. Supposedly put's a wicked sharp edge on race skis.

Long day rapping with tuning and wax suppliers and others. I didn't get to see everything and hit requests as I hoped and thought I could. I was on the way to Reusch and stopped by Dominator and time ran out of time. Sorry Rich. Same with Head. I checked out some helmets but didn't see anything like what you are looking for.

The new Tools4Boards Revolver Vise can expand to 150mm and is different than all conventional clamping vises because the threads allow the jaws to expand and clamp symmetrically from center. The skis will remain centered on the end supports. Plus snowboards can rest on the rubber tops and the ends are articulated to conform to camber and can rotate 90° sideways. Here's a video clip.

BCA Tracker 2
isn't out year and hopefully will be this fall.

DB Cooper is a rad snowboarder designer now.

The new SVST bench vise is a piece of art. It's sweet but pricey. Jim Vermillion is a fine machinist. I talked to him about the electric edger, SJB. It's a $3500 tool from Italy, the same in the Maplus catalog. There's a micro small market, AFAIK and not sure where to see one at his time, SJB.

TPJ, I didn't see a demo pipe to scope out.

Best Regards,

Terry (aka Alpinord)

I needed another day. Talked to Swix, Toko, Holmenkol & Dominator. regarding profiles, tools, accessories and waxes, though. Not any gear and I'm bummed about running out of time.

Wow, I need a Revolver Vise. That's beautiful AND it will fit in my tiny apartment in Japan. Can I afford it?

This was a proptotype and it's not finalized, but close. The pricing isn't either and it is designed to compete with (and out perform) the conventional clamping vises.

One additional note is that the width is able to be wider or narrower depending on the length of the threaded rod included which is a great versatility feature. If you prefer clamping vises, this is definitely sweet.
